"Cannot connect to iTunes Store" - iPhone 4

My iPhone 4 won't connect to iTunes (Sometimes it does, most of the time it won't). I have full signal strength on 3G network. I never had a problem connecting with my 3GS iPhone.

Anyone else on here having issues with connecting to ITunes Store (App store) via your new iPhone 4?

Also, I'm posting this message from my iPhone 4 now and it's taking a few tries because I keep getting the following message: "Cannot Open Page. Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found"

Wonder what's wrong??

There should be a detailed article from Apple detailing how to troubleshoot this error. Turning off WiFi, turning ON WiFi, deleting iBooks, enabling/disabling Restrictions, none of that worked for me.

What did? Nothing except for turning on Settings > Store > Use Cellular Data. No wonder, other than when I *was* connected to WiFi, I was also getting the error. Now, after enabling download over the cellular network, it's also working when WiFi is enabled.

This is day 4 of me owning an Apple product, my first. Apart from this frustrating error, I'm pretty sure an iPad 2 is in my future, and I think I've wanted to check out a MacBook for years.

We just bought a new iphone 4 and iphone 4s. I connected with wifi on the 4 for a while now i cant but the 4s will not connect and it is brand new. The only way to connect is turning wifi off. I shouldnt have to do that. What is the point in being about to use wifi if it doesnt let me connect to the store. No apps have ever been downloaded. I tried using the 3g then connecting to wifi but that didnt work either. I expected more from a new iphone. They are both going back to the store I will get something else.We both think that if it has problems and its brand new but been out for a while and they are still not fixed then there is probably more problems coming the longer we have it. So, as much as we love Apple we are very upset but are not keeping them. I dont want to waste my data i get while I am home and have wifi. I only should have to use it when I am out and about. I never had this problem with my old iphone. Makes me wonder if I should go buy the ipad like i planned..

Ok, I'm having a similar problem, but after browsing the 11 pages of comments, I haven't found one that is exactly the same.

I can connect to the iTunes store exactly 50% of the times I try. It's literally an every-other-time-it-won't-connect situation. And it happens on both wifi AND 3G (verizon), in any location, and will happen whether or not I am actually logged into my itunes account.

I've tried all of the following:

- Turning on celluar data

- Resetting network settings

- Logging in and out of account

- Resetting clock (I found something online that said this might work)

What I've found is that if I open the app store, it connects. Then, if I minimize and try to come back, it tells me it can't connect. But if I minimize and then kill the app and then open it again, it connects just fine.

This is really more of an annoyance than anything - since so far I've been able to connect just fine by entering the app store twice, but I'd really like to fix this considering I've had the phone for less than a week. It's my first Apple product, and all I've ever heard about was how good they are at avoiding this type of thing....

Any help would be appreciated. I've reached out to Apple for support but I fear their response is going to be generic and unhelpful.

I too am having a similar problem where both my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 (3G/WiFi) are unable to connect properly to the App Store. I am also unable to purchase any new apps or update any old apps. But the I can browse the App store just fine. I turned off Cellular Data and back on and still the same. I have restarted my devices. I have also deleted iBooks.

My iPhone is in the process of purchasing an app right now but it just sits at Waiting... and I am updating an app on my iPad and it too just sits at Waiting....

I have verified that my billing information is correct. Both devices are updated with the latest iOS installed. I have tried on 3G and WiFi networks.

Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Vishal

For anyone that was wondering, I appear to have solved my problem by doing the following (not sure which fixed it, but after all of this, it worked fine).

- Hooking iphone up to computer, registering

- Downloading latest version of itunes

Literally, those two things were all I did and it works ok now. But again, my problem seemed a little different than everyone else's in that it worked 50% of the time.

After a lot of frustration on this issue with my iPhone 4S, I decided to download the latest version of iTunes and restore my iPhone as new. I did not restore from a backup this time, just to be sure I started off fresh. After 3 weeks of downloads and updates from the App Store, I have not had any more issues with failing to connect to iTunes. If you don't mind restoring your iPhone as new, I'd highly recommend giving it a try. Hopefully this will work for others.

Hello Everyone.

This is a very simple fix. If you are at an airport, or a hotel and cannot get into the app store,

go to your settings

go to wifi, choose a network

click the blue arrow beside the network you are connected too

go Down to DNS. delete all of the numbers in there and enter 8.8.4.4

go to search domain and change it to google.com

This will fix your issues.
