And now camera problems. The reason why Apple is having so many problems is that Steve Jobs lives in the world called denial.
A shift in white balance does not mean there are camera "problems" - apple shifted the white point on their second generation phone to a warmer setting with the goal of more natural looking photos... I'm sure this shift in the white point again (obviously warmer again) is to compensate for the rather harsh very cool light of the LED flash - the LED is a different type of light source than most cameras use. Take a portrait with the flash directed straight at the person and you will see that when using LED instead of getting red eye, you get white eye.
On the iPhone 4, the color rendition with the flash is beautiful - I shot a lot of video as well as a bunch of indoor stills with it and the color was great, very vivid and no wash out that is common with a lot of compact video units. It's quite possible that the white point was also adjusted for FaceTime which also delivers beautiful color correct live video.
If you knew anything about photography, lighting and/or color, and color rendition indices you would know this.
No phone has a full featured camera, which allows you to adjust the white point for each photo, as do many cameras. They are sophisticated PHONES with simple cameras, not sophisticated CAMERAs with simple phones. Choices have to be made. People wanted a flash, so apple added a flash... of course they would have to adjust the white point to accommodate that additional feature.
Too,there are , many apps, and many free ones at that which will allow you to color shift your photo right there in the phone to correct for the different lighting conditions in which we take photos.
If you want a more sophisticated camera, where you or it can set the white point for each picture, go BUY A CAMERA. Why would you expect to get a more sophisticated camera, that costs hundreds of dollars on its own (and needless to point out that NO ONE has yet figured out how to cram into such a small package), inside a phone that only cost $199?
Better yet, use the money to trade in your simple brain for a more sophisticated one.... and maybe we'll all get a break from the incessant whining and disparaging remarks that don't help anyone experiencing real issues integrating their mobile device into their existing data networks...
