iPhoto no longer recognizes photos from my Kodak EasyShare V803

This has never happened before. I have 11 new photos, but when I try to import them, I get a message that says they are in an "unrecognizable format." I've already downloaded the latest update.

I have the same problem with an iMac and a MacMini since upgrading both to 10.6.8. One is running iPhoto 9 and the Mini is running iPhoto 8 (7.1.5.). The error says unreadable files. The camera is a Kodak Z730 and has been working fine up till the 10.6.8 upgrade (we think this is what has changed.) Anyway neither iPhoto nor Image Capture can read or import the jpeg images now. However, using an SD card reader on an Acer netbook, we read the images, transfer to a thumb drive, and can import just fine into either of the Macs.

Question: What is up with the Macs? This seems to have occured earlier with other OS releases.

Adding our name to the list...to keep this open. Camera is Kodak EasyShare Z650. Cannot transfer .mov files or see and transfer any regular photos on the card. We were able to work around by importing on a older "Tiger" computer, then transferring the files, but it's a pain.

I would appreciate an explanation about what's different about these cameras from other brands/models?

This is exactly my problem. I have a Kodak V603 Camera that worked with a USB cable for YEARS on all of my macbooks and macbook pro. Then when I upgraded to 10.6.8? I could no longer transfer pictures. The PC's in the house work fine, but I am a mac user. In addition to my Macbook I recently purchased the new macbook Air and I can use the card reader and then transfer from there but NOT the USB cable. I have tried iPhoto, Image Capture and Easy share. Nothing works. The pictures are in an unrecognizable format, or don't show up at all, and do not import. Easy share pretends to import them but then there is nothing there. I do not want to use a card reader - this is NOT a solution for me. Why should I have to buy anything or leave my house - when the people that broke it can fix it! I would like this software to work as it has in the past. I think Apple or Kodak should work to solve this, I certainly have spent lots of money on their products. This is very frustrating!!!!!!!

I hat it when people use terms like "no brainer" or "obviously," however this is obviously in OS X's court. This keeps happening after OS X releases. Nothing changes with an older Kodak camera. Apple does end up fixing this (which may be fixing a Kodak mis-implementation) but Apple needs to carry forward the fix to new releases.

I have same problem with Kodak Z730 camera. Years of use, no problems on my iMac G5. Got an 2010 iMac, and worked fine until I upgrade all my software in early Sept. 2011. No I can nolonger get pictures off my camera. I looked, and I have no video on my camera, but still cannot get it off. I can still get pictures off my iMac G5, but that is not fun to move them to my Intel iMac. Tried Picasa and that doesn't work either. I am convinced Mac OS X upgrade caused the problem.

Does clearing caches work? From the thread I get the impression it doesn't, just getting rid of video helps some people, but maybe not all?

I appreciate finding out on here that a DS reader will do the trick (I didn't even know they existed, because my cable connection from my Kodak C875 always worked fine... until one of these software updates messed things up). But even though the DS readers are cheap - great - as others here are saying, it's not anything wrong with our cameras or anything WE have done - it's Apple's software no longer working with our cameras, which is highly annoying.

I just ran a new update, and suddenly Iphoto '09 will not import the photos directly from my Canon camera anymore! I do photos all day long, and taking out the card to a reader 10 times a day is not a good system!

Wish I had not done that update!

Is there any solution to this problem? I am using 10.6.8. and my camera is a Canon Power Shot.
