iPhone 4 + iMovie = Crashes the iMovie App and does not export...

Hello fellow Apple Customers,

I recently purchased iMovie for the iPhone 4 and I am having some issues I can't seem to resolve. When I try to export a project to either Medium 360p, Large or HD 720P the application starts exporting but the exporting bar just freeze and then the iMovie application crashes, sometimes it even reboots the iPhone.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? I noticed that this happens if the project is longer than 43 seconds, if the project is less then 43 seconds then it successfully exports my projects into my camera roll but if the project is longer than 43 seconds it does not and even causes the app. to crash.

I am dissapointed in the performance of the iMovie on the iPhone 4, everything else works flawlessly with the iPhone.

same problem here as everyone else has described. I worked up a short video yesterday (about 40 seconds) and it exported just fine, but now - I spent the last hour working on a longer video (about 4 min w/music ) and it wont export at all. Just hangs on the export screen for several seconds - then "blank" it goes out. A few minutes ago - my phone froze up and I had to reboot it. Hmmm... Hello Apple! Me thinks we got a problem here...

I have a sneaking feel about this too (it would explain why some people are reporting that they can export 5:00 videos and others like me can't export 2:00 videos). The phone MAY not be powerful enough to handle too many Ken Burns' effects. I would like to see if anyone else feels that this may be the case as well (maybe a friggen Apple rep? Just maybe?!)

The official word from Apple. I wonder if this means they don't intend to fix it?

Symptoms
iMovie will sometimes quit while exporting if your project contains several still images.

Products Affected
iMovie for iPhone 4
Resolution
The number of photos that will cause iMovie to quit while exporting depends on several factors, including the complexity of the project and the size of the still images used. Full size images taken from the rear facing iPhone 4 camera will create this issue more commonly than with older iPhone 3GS pictures, or pictures that have been synced from iPhoto via iTunes. Given these factors, iMovie may quit while exporting a project with as few as 12-15 photos. However, depending on the size of the photos and other circumstances, projects with as many as 25 photos may export without this issue.

If iMovie quits while exporting, export your project to a smaller size or remove still images from your project and try exporting again.

I am confused or maybe can't accept the answer. So u mean to tell me that I need to shoot shorter videos to use iMovie for the iPhone and not to use photos I already have in my library? iMovie will only work with new pictures I take with an earlier iPhone generation because the rear
iPhone 4 camera will crash the application? What bs is this? Are we getting an update soon or is this it?!!!

Ok:
1: this needs to be in the app description NOW
2: the app needs an update to allow us to create smaller images ON IMPORT, this way the phone only has to resize one image at a time as we import them.
3: in the same update the app needs to keep track of the stills imported and not allow the user to import any more after the threshold is reached. This way we don't spend extended periods of time creating our movies only to find out that we can't EVER export them.
Apple, dont worry. Unlike some juggernaut computer companies that attempt to patent everything, including the use of letters like... oh I don't know... the letter "i" for argument's sake, I haven't patented any of my ideas listed above. So please... Feel free to implement ALL of them ASAP.

This is absolutely ridiculous. And if Apple thinks that is a fix they have to be joking. I want my money back and will wait for some other App developer to actually make a Video Editing app that actually works correctly. I understand that I have iMovie on my MacBook and I can do the same thing by exporting the videos and photos but the purpose of the iMovie iPhone 4 App was to be able to do it without a computer and send it to your Facebook or Youtube page from the phone.
I really hope they fix this. I am going to ask for a credit and see what happens.
