iPhone 4 wont stay connect to Wifi

My sister-in-law was having the same problem with her router. After we verified her router settings, I then had her reset the network settings on the iPhone (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings). Once she did this, her phone has not any WiFi issues.

Note that resetting the network settings will remove ALL WiFi connections you may have saved.

I initially did that and it worked... for a little bit. Then the problem came back. Let us know if it is still working fine in a couple days please 🙂

I am also having this issue. I connect to Wi-Fi and the iPhone 4 will not stay connected!

I have the same problem. However, my wife does not even when we are side by side. The only difference between the two 4th gen phones is that one is 16gb and the other is 32gb.

Here's what I've noticed:
1. My regular home network has no issues: setup via WPA2 with 13 character password.
2. At work I setup wifi from my powerbook via internet sharing. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I tried all the remedies, but nothing worked till I rebooted my powerbook. Internet sharing via airport only allows WEP, but I'll try switching to 13 character pass from the 9 that I have now.
3. My father-in-law has a wifi setup using WEP and I have the problem, but my wife doesn't. It's a 10 character pass. I'll have to try resetting his router next time, but I had no luck with other remedies today.

I use wifi all over. I can connect to my home wifi-I use no password. It is fine, stays connected. When I hit the gym or use other wifi, I cannot connect although I did connect at Starbucks.

This is very disappointing. I will stay tuned and hopeful.

I have the same problem, belkin vision router set to wpa2, iPhone 3G on OS4 connects fine, iPhone4 will only work for about a minute. I have tried everything suggested, resetting the network settings results in wifi working for a short time, but then it stops again.

I registered just to add my support for this problem. My iPhone 4 won't stay connected to my home network either.

I've replaced the phone (for a different issue). Didn't help.
I've Reset All Settings
I changed my router from B+G to just G.
I gave my phone a static IP well out of the range of other devices
My old iPhone 3G works great, my son's iPod Touch, PSP, wife's laptop, my laptop, Wii and other devices work perfectly.

It wouldn't be as bad if it just dropped wireless entirely and dumped me back to 3G. At least I'd still have some form of internet connection. But it's stuck in the middle. Still thinks it's on wi-fi, but won't communicate. I've found the quickest fix to be to just turn wi-fi off then back on. But then I only get another 5-15 minutes before it dies again. It's very frustrating. Beyond that, I have no real big issues with my new phone. But I really need to get this one figured out.

I was having the same problem with my phone and my wife's phone. I first thought it was a problem with my router because the network timing protocol settings had been wiped out, and upon restoring them my phone stayed connected. My wife's phone arrived the next day, and it would not stay connected while mine did.

I tried resetting the network settings on her phone, but that did not solve the issue. I once again entered the password into the phone and then RESET THE PHONE. After resetting the phone it worked perfectly.

I don't have a theory behind this, but it seemed to work.

I have finally solved this.

Today I took my iphone to the genius in my local Apple Store, he hooked it up to test it and said it had all sorts of issues, his answer was a full reset. This didn't work, but funnily enough I had no problems connecting to wifi in the Apple Store, but it still wouldn't work on my home wifi.

I then started playing with the settings on my router. What fixed it was turning off the 20Mhz & 40Mhz bands, and just using 20MHz, the phone connected and has stayed connected.

It seems the Iphone 4 can't cope with a router using dual bands.

I too have this problem with the iPhone4. All other devices connect without problem to my home wifi (dlink dgl-4300) However the iPhone4 can't remain connected for more than a minute or two at most.

The problem is so bad that I've resorted telling the iPhone to forget my home wifi network and just use 3G instead.

I've tried reseting the router, forgetting the network on the iPhone, resetting the iPhone's network settings, complete restore, using a static IP address, different DNS server, etc. Nothing has fixed it.

I'm really close to returning or exchanging the phone. Buying a new router is simply not acceptable. The DGL-4300 is a top of the line consumer B/G router and can talk to all other devices perfectly fine. The problem is that I anticipate difficulty getting an exchange approved because they'll just say it is my home network.

I took mine to the Apple store and they gladly replaced.
