Bose headset no longer works on iPhone 4

My Bose headset, which worked flawlessly on 3GS, no longer works for voice control and voice memos on my new iphone 4. They still work fine as headphones but the microphone no longer is operational. The Apple supplied headset works and if I unplug the Bose set the voice dialing and memos work okay.

But when I use the Bose headset and try to record a voice memo it includes a rhythmic static every half second or so. Voice control is completely non-operational with this headset. I'm thinking something with the noise canceling is screwed up.

Anyone have any possible work arounds?

My iPod touch 3G was stolen along with my old BOSE in ear headphones, so have bought these to use with an old iPod classic thinking that I will wait until the new iPod touch comes out in Autumn and get one of those then. Great to have BOSE sound quality along with the mic and audio control functionality. Tried them on the classic and a friends old iPod Touch 2G and work fine (obv can't test the voice control function on that though) but they didn't work on my sister's iPhone 4. The connection at the jack just seems loose, sound intermittent and the mic controls don't work at all. Now I'm worried they they won't work with any new iPod Touch if it follows the same style as the iPhone 4, in which case I should send them back now as by then (autumn) it will be too late. Would appreciate any thoughts from people that know more about this kind of thing than me - £100 is a lot of money for me to spend on headphones and can't afford to waste it!

I'm having the same problem with Phonak Audeo headphones on an iphone 4. Pulsating interference when making calls. Fluctuating volume and sounds quality when listening to music. I had my iphone 4 replaced for other reasons and it still does it. Headphones still work fine on iphone 3g.

Similar to other posts, the phonak audeos have a metal base on the plug which I believe causes problems when it contacts the case.

My B&O earset 3 and my Monster Beats Studio's are doing the same thing on my iPhone 4 - pulsing static during a call and volume raising to maximum and back down again rather than play / pause.

My iphone 3GS works fine, I have also tested these products on other iPhone 4's and have had the same result.

I have called Apple Support twice and have been told it is not their problem.

This is not good enough, there are enough cases on Apple discussions for Apple to acknowledge there is a problem and sort it out. It is happening across the board with most 3rd party headsets.

Apple also sell most of these products in their store, where they state that the products are compatible.

Not good enough Apple, I want answers.

I used my Bose ear buds every morning at the gym for a year with my 3gs and never had a problem. I loved them, the ability to answer or place a call without having to stop my workout.
I just replaced my Bose ear buds. First I thought my original pair just went bad, they were about a year old: songs were on constant fastforward. The Pulse tone for making calls would start in the middle of a song.
For the past 3 days I've had no problems with the ear buds. Just this morning I was at the gym and the same problem started again ( fastforward & pulse tone). Not as bad as the first time, but the song I was listening to, out of no where just began to fastforward. The pulse tone for making a call started in the middle of the same song as well. What do I do? I don't want to by a new pair and I love my Bose ear buds, anyone have any ideas?

Just sent the following message to the link that was posted in a previous message:

Since I updated my iPhone 3GS to the latest software version 4.1, the answer/end button on my expensive Bose headset has stopped functioning. Can you tell me why this has happened? One of the reasons I bought these expensive headphones was for the functionality that this feature gave me. I now find that it isn't working anymore and from reading other posts on the subject it seems that other people are having the same problem. Can you explain to me what is being done to restore my enjoyment of the iPhone/Bose setup and what my consumer rights are considering that there is not a material fault with either item but rather a software update has detrimentally affected the situation.
