iPhone 4 Bluetooth Connection to Car

same issue here, I have a 2010 Dodge Charger with UConnect and my wife has a 2008 Nissan Quest, Ever since ios5, Neither of them hold the connection, I can pair on both cars but as soon as I make a call, the car stereo speakers ring and then immediately disconnects and bluetooth shows it connecting, then disconnecting over and over. Same thing happens with all 3 of our iPhone 4's (I tried a 4S on my charger and it worked perfect), Also some LG touch phone my neighbor tried works perfect along with my friends Windows phone in both cars too, It is only the iPhone 4 that has this problem. I really hope they come up with something soon, this is really frustrating since I used it before the update, Yet like I said, My buddies iPhone 4S on 5.0.1 works fine, very strange
I have an Optima with the Infinity system and my iPhone4 with iOS 5.0.1 would pair just fine but I had to manually connect every time I got in the car. The other day, I was talking to someone, started the car and stood outside of it for a minute... when I got in and went to connect, it was already connected. What I realized is that I hadn't plugged the charger in yet, like I usually do...
So, I started waiting a few minutes before plugging in the charger... the phone stays paired and automatically connects every time as long as I don't plug anything into the iPhone until after it connects...
May work for some of you that are not having pairing issues and just having to manually connect each time.
I have a Volvo XC70 2012, and my iPhone 4, altough easily paired - never automatically reconnects via Bluetooth. I always have to shut the Bluetooth off and then on again, then manually let the car find the phone.
If I am out of the car for more than, say, an hour. Otherwise - it reconnects automatically.
Ridiculous.
My colleague has the same car AND the same phone. And does not have this problem.
I have upgraded the software in the car, and it stil does not work.
Apple may be arrogant when it comes to upgrades, but for a feature like this - especially involving a car - they should solve it once and for all.

thank you but that wont work in my situation, Its the first time my van has seen any of the iphone 4's (not 4S). I tried 5 differnt ones so far between family and friends and none of them work in my Charger or Quest, Such a shame being that this is supposed to be the phone of all phones to have, sad
I am hear searching for answers as well. Same problem as with everyone else. I was told the issue may be with SIRI. I disabled my SIRI and seem to have no issues. I was hoping someone here figured that out and knew if Apple is working a solution. I guess not. Bummer.
Changing the name does not work.
As I un-pair and pair again, I get autoconnect the first time - irrespectively of time outside the car.
But then the Iphone4 won't autoconnect again.
I am getting sick of this.
How come my colleague - with the same kind of phone and same car model does not have any problems like this?
Well, logic says that there's either something wrong with your phone or something wrong with the car system. And you've just proved that it is a problem unique to you, because your colleague with the identical setup does not have a problem. It means that it's unlikely anyone here can help, because none of us can replication the problem.
I too am having the same type of problems. Just bought a 2007 Audi A6 in the UK with MMI. The previous owner had no problems with the bluetooth (saw him using it). My wife and I just purchased unlocked Apple iPhone 4Ss before moving here, and we can get the iPhones to link with other bluetooth devices...Just not our Audi! Very frustrating, as I can't seem to find answers for this pervasive problem anywhere on the internet. The local Audi dealer wants to spend some "quality time" (read: £££) with my Audi to figure it out. ANY help is greatly appreciated!
You need to start by unpairing anything that is currently paired with the Audi, and preferably resetting it to a virgin state.
I just had the same problems; had a iPhone3, worked fine with Bluetooth in my Subaru, got an iPhone 4 (actually was able to pair for a short time - a day?) then it wouldn't work. I tried re-pairing without success - even got lured into selecting "forget thit device" on my phone. I followed advice on this chat, Un-paired my old iPhone3 and was immediately able to re-pair with the iPhone4. HOORAY! I hope it keeps on working.
I'm having this issue with my subaru as well. It was working fine with my iPhone 3g (whenever I got in the car it would automatically connect and begin playing music). With the iPhone 4S I have to tell it to connect every time (I do not have to re-pair every time just manually connect).
Pairing is NOT an issue. Not automatically reconnecting is. I'll try renaming my phone and turning off Siri but I don't think these are the issues.
See this tip; it was posted by someone with a Subaru who fixed it: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2851
I have tried everything, those tips do not work in my case
iPhone 4 (not 4S), tried 5 of them, none of them will work properly in my 2009 charger and 2008 Quest, any other phone I have tested works fine including 3 different droids 2 of my buddy's 4S'
