iPhone 4 Bluetooth Connection to Car

When I was using my 3G (with the iOS4 software) with my car's Bluetooth kit, it would automatically sync up whenever I turned the ignition on. Now, with the iPhone 4, my car doesn't automatically sync. I always have to manually initiate the connection either through the phone or the car kit. I've paired, re-paired, resetted, powered down/up, and pairing with the car on first or with the phone first and vice versa to see if it would connect automatically like the 3G but I haven't had any luck. I know this is just a convenience issue but I'm curious if anyone is having a similar problem? Or any suggestions on how I can get this to work.

This doesn't fix my issue. After pairing the first time it auto connects. Every other time I turn on my car I have to manually connect. Believe this is a software issue.

edit: and by software I mean iPhone software.

I had the same problem until tonight....everytime I tried to contact my husband or son which both have IPhones4's the calls would drop.....I finally figured out what happened to mine....when I setup my IPhone under their contacts I put their numbers in IPhone instead of mobile numbers. So when I tried to use my bluetooth in my general motors it would cut out. Once I went in and changed them to mobile numbers, I am now able to connect as normal...I hope this helps

So I've used the BT in my 2008 Priuswith my iPhone 4s for a while with no problem until 2 days ago, when suddenly, I can no longer answer an incoming call from the controls in the car. My phone still recognizes the car and vice versa, making the BT connection. I can make outgoing calls using the car's system (eg. speed dial, touch screen dialing and contacts) and I can make calls via the phone. In both cases, the radio goes off and everything works normally. But when an incoming call arrives, the radio still turns off, the screen indicates an incoming call (and even who it's from) but the "ring" heard in the car is now different (used to be a classic old ring and is now the iPhone ring) and I can't answer the call from the car. I can only answer from the phone itself and only by selecting "iPhone" or "speaker." Even though "hands free" is an option, it doesn't work. I have tried deleting each device from the other and re-connecting without success. I'd appreciate any ideas on how to fix it.

Hey guys, I figured out how to fix this issue in my 2011 wrx. I was having hands free issues and music only worked when going into the phone and manually connectin the Bluetooth.

Solution I found: forget the device from the phone. Then delete ALL information stored in your car through the phone book options (for my car). Delete any audio that may be still synced. Now I had to go through all the setup steps again like when I first purchased the car, language selection ect. But in this process re syncing the phone solved all issues.

There must be some sort of conflict with the old information stored in the phone and car not agreeing 100% with new apple OS. So bottom line just restore both phone and cars Bluetooth information and reset up your phone to the car. Hope this helps as it did solve my issue. Good luck!
