Some of the cases mentioned up-thread sell for around $10. I paid $17 from Amazon for the one I'm using. The iPh4 is a pretty high-end phone, and there will always be a niche market for high-end accessories (e.g., hand-stitched leather cases). But cases of reasonable price should be completely adequate. And any case worth the name will provide far more protection than the bumper.

Ya I ended up ordering one of those Cimo cases in clear smoke color for $10 shipped. I saw one in person and they fit snug and this Mivizu rubber case I have on mine now constantly slides off the corners, plus it attracts lint so looks bad. I was gonna spend $30 and get that Incipio Silicrilic or $35 for the Otterbox Impact but really when you look at those and compare to these cheapo cases there isn't enough difference to justify a $20+ jump in price. And trust me I've bought the Otterbox cases and other nice ones so I've had experience with both cheapos and expensier ones so I'm speaking from experience.

The Element cases are really cool IMO. And yes they do offer an optional back surface. I have one on reserve for August. Hopefully there will be reports as to to it's aluminum construction effecting the antenna by then, so I will know that to do when they say the cases are available. I don't see how it could not effect reception though.
