The inside of the Vapor case is lined with a very high tech shock absorbing material that reduces the G-forces of an impact. *It also creates*

So, don't you worry on the signal issue. However, $80 to $100. Bit pricey but definitely worth it. Looks the best

Sorry that's just rubbish! If you put metal between an antenna and the air its trying to transmit into or receive from it will seriously reduce the signal.

i hope you are wrong as I think it is the nicest looking case I have seen. they had other metal cases for other phones I believe and I haven't seen any reports of reception issues. I plan to order one, but it will be a few weeks after they are available so I can see if you are right or not because no matter how cool it looks if it kills the reception, it's of no use.

I am afraid I am right, it's a simple fact of electronics engineering that a metal 'screen' blocks RF.

Think about a co-ax cable, it has a braid or foil screen to prevent the RF from escaping from the centre connector and ensure it gets to the other end.

It may even have been a better solution if the metal case were actually connected to the antenna so it could act as an antenna itself.

Put your phone in a biscuit tin and see what happens after 30 seconds or so!

I tested a real carbon fibre clip on back on my ip3g and that reduced the signal a lot and CF is just a conductive weave not solid metal.

I agree its an excellent looking case / bumper and I would buy one straight away if it was made of a non metallic composite material.

I am waiting for Power support screen protectors and iSkin to come out. I've used iSkins cases on my previous iPhones and they were very good as far as protection goes. Until then, I did purchase a Rocket fish case at BB yesterday, as I am paranoid with just the bumper. I just checked mine to see if the square pattern is transferring to the phone as mentioned above, and I don't see it. However, I will be watching for it daily and I have the packaging and receipt, so I can return it if necessary. Thanks for the heads up!

I will be ordering the Sena Magnet Flipper case when they ship later this month. I've had this case for my current 3G, and a previous Treo 650, and I LOVE them. They almost completely cover the whole phone including the front, they fit snuggly, the leather and stitching is top notch, and holds up very well for wear, and you can charge the phone in the case. I like the clean look of the case. They're a bit pricy but worth it.
