I have the Belkin case. It's a hard thin plastic case and it fits like a glove. It really doesn't feel like I have a case on it at all but it feels so protected. It's a lovely purple but they come in other colors. I've seen the bumpers and if you don't mind scratches on the back go for it but I wouldn't recommend it.
My favourite is the iSkin Revo. I've used one on my first two iPhones and, after 18 months of use, they both still looked perfect. I particularly like them for the clear plastic visor which provides impact protection for the screen.
I agree with you that the Griffin reveal is the best. The girl at best buy even liked the case because it went on as soon as the phone came out of the box today. I like the feel of it and you are right, you can still use everything that you were using before. I did have to remove the adapter in my ihome dock but no big deal as it was designed for the curved iphone 3g and 3gs.
I have a workable one for my iPh4 and one I don't like as well ($9 from Amazon) as a "make do" for my wife's when it arrives Thurs.
We'll probably go to a Best Buy tomorrow and see what they have available. Ideally she should have one with a flap over the screen so she can put it in a purse the way she does her current flip phone.
I agree the Griffin bumper clear back case is what I grabbed. I had a frogz case for my 3G and loved it, but wanted something that wouldn't "hide" the phone.
