I don't know if it's the phone or the OS, but my headset worked fine with my iPhone 2g. On my new iPhone 4, every bluetooth headset I use connects fine and I can hear the caller perfect. Except, they say it sounds like there's a pillow over my mouth when I talk. To the point of not even recognizing what I say. I tried calling the house, and I can barely hear myself, and it will cut in and out. Anyone else getting this issue?
I called apple support this morning (06/28) and he had a few suggestions which I had already done (restart phone, restore, restore and create new phone) - none of those worked. I referred him to this thread which he read through and told me to go to the Apple Store for a new replacement phone.
I have a Jawbone earset & i am dropping calls and also i am being told that my voice is garbled, i tried another earset a Callpod and it also drops the bluetooth connection. I have it in a case on my belt it really started dropping yesterday
APPLE NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE... i called Apple last night and they said there were no issues with Bluetooth BUT THERE SURE IS
There certainly is an issue. I have narrowed my issue down to incoming calls that I answer on the bluetooth. When I call out, it's fine. When the call comes in, my voice is muffled for the person on the the other end.
I'm not bothered by the alleged "reception" issue at all, but I have this problem in spades and it is unacceptable! As a long-standing Apple fan I'm confident that the fix is coming in iOS 4.1 but I almost feel that I should document this problem with Apple in case I am forced to return the phone.
I am having the same problems. I use Sennheisser stereo bluetooth earbuds, Alpine (car) bluetooth adapter for stereo AND a Blinc bluetooth (Oneal motorcycle helmet) device --- ALL of them sound muffled to the other parties. I can hear them fine, however it is very hard for them to understand me. ALL of these devices worked FLAWLESSLY with my iPhone 3gs and 3g.
I have also noticed that with my Blinc stereo bluetooth, it will only play stereo music from the iPod application after a iPhone reboot. After I disconnect and reconnect I can not play music from the iPhone over the Blinc.
This is a pain in the rear, when will this be fixed and is it a known issue somewhere that we can track?
My muffled problem is only happening on incoming calls that I answer on my bluetooth. Outgoing calls on my bluetooth are ok. Has anyone tested this and found the same thing?
Mine muffled calls were happening on both incoming and outgoing. I took the advice of Apple Tech Support and had my phone replaced. So far, no one has complained about the "muffliness" anymore - praying that it stays that way.
Just got off the phone with Lane in the technical support. Apple support realizes there is an issue (no surprise there) and will be responding to those that have a trouble ticket with them. The first response was to replace the phone but they are not doing that as it is a reception antenna problem.
There is no ETA for a fix to be released.
This would be a prime oppertunity for Microsoft to make a commercial of giving iphone4 a black eye. Maybe Sprint should offer the EVO to those that purchased the Iphone 4 at a discount? Sounds like a great marketing idea.
Same problem with a 3GS upgraded to IOS4 using a Plantronics 510 which works(ed) perfectly fine with my WM6.1 phone. I've already reset the phone and repaired the headset, still sounds muffled/garbled. I have a second (brand new) 510 I will try as well, but based on the discussion above I suspect it won't help.
I have the same problem. I have a Plantronics Voyager pro. I called tech support and was advised to call Plantronics. It is amazing that Apple can't make a phone that you can use as a phone.
