iTunes not recognizing iPhone 4

Do you have the latest version of iTunes (9.2)?

Update iTunes to v9.2

Perform a hard reset of the iPhone and then try syncing again.

I purchased the new iPhone the day it came out and I haven't synced it yet.. I am so bummed I am having the same problem with having the 10.4 version. Is the only way to update is to purchase the newest version?

As a long shot, remove iTunes from your Mac and then reboot it. After rebooting, reinstall iTune 9.2 and try syncing again.

I'm having the same issue with my new Iphone 4 and itunes 9.2. I'm getting a message that it needs OX X 10.5.8 or later. Apple support says 10.4.11 is good enough. Any solutions would be appreciated.

10.411 is required for iOS4; 10.5.8 is required for the iPhone 4.

I am in the exact same situation as you were. Did these solutions work for you? I went from OSX 10.4 to Snow Leopard, and the iPhone 4 is not being recognized by my itunes.

I'm having a similar issue. I have always synced my 3G iPhone on my MBPro that was running Tiger. When I tried activating my new iPhone 4, I got the msg stating that my OS needed to be updated. In order to activate my phone, I used my iMac that is running Leopard. I finally upgraded to Leopard on my MBPro today, but iTunes is not recognizing the phone at all. The phone will charge, but that's it.... Not sure what to do...

I'm having the same issue. Upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard, connected my phone and nothing. Well not nothing, IPhoto recognizes it and my phone charges but ITunes does not recognize it. This is beginning to bug me.
