iPhone 4 Internet running slow on 3G?

Anyone else having this problem? It's working pretty good for me right now but for most the day it has been loading pretty slow or mostly not at all even though I have full service. Is it the phone or is it AT&T?

I'm having the same issues. When accessing the 3G network Safari is unusable. This is my second iPhone. The first one I received on launch day died two days later. The earpiece on the phone stopped working. Tonight while at dinner I put my Wife's 3GS running iOS4 on the table next to my iPhone 4 and I tried to go to the same website. Her phone beat mine by at least two minutes and most times it would just time out. It reminded me of the speed tests Steve would do at Macworld but my iPhone was the PC! I've restored my iPhone 4 and no change. I'm also in Salt Lake City. I want my old 3GS back. I don't care how nice the screen is on my iPhone 4. It doesn't work!!

I have been sitting here testing my iPhone 4's internet speed against an iPhone 3GS by accessing various sites at the same time (over the 3G network, not wi-fi). The 3GS has been smoking my brand new iPhone 4 - sometimes by as much as 90 seconds! I feel totally ripped off right now. 😟

Oh, and I have had the phones sitting flat side-by-side on a table, so it's not an issue of the antenna being covered by someone's hand.

With full reception (all bars) on the Rogers network in Toronto, my internet connection is agonizingly slow with my iPhone 4, even if it is sitting on my desk and I'm not holding it at all. Internet speeds, page loading, and up/downloading are significantly slower than with my iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.0.2. This *****, the phone is beautiful to look at, but I'm much happier with the performance of the 3GS that I just sold. Had I known, I wouldn't have bothered "up"grading.

well, i fixed my problem, but it's more fluke than fix.

here's what i did.

1. yesterday, i cleaned my micro sd. wiped it with a cloth as hard as i could.
2. reset my settings
3. hard reset my phone. (this was all during 9-5)
(nothing)
4. went home, went on my home wifi, and played around with it. everything looked ok.
5. plugged my iPhone into my Macbook Pro at around 12am. I read somewhere to restore it. So I pressed restore. It d/l this huge 500mb file on iTunes, as it was d/l I ejected my iPhone. (I'm not going to wait 15 minutes).
6. left my Macbook Pro in the background. Turned of wifi. Noticed my 3g was BLAZING FAST. AND I MEAN BLAZING FAST. As fast as Wifi. HQ Safari Youtube, no prob. Downloading apps, no lag. Streaming Radio, instant. I used up 500mb of data from 12:00am to 1:30am with out a stumble.

7. Woke up this morning hoping that it would revert back to it was before so I could restore it. But it's still blazing fast. Even at 3bars, I can't notice the difference. Death grip, etc.

8. Went back to work. Still blazing fast.
9. Now tethering to my work comp, web pages loads fast. Loaded youtube video (mysteryguitarman was the first hit) and loaded without a hitch.

I have no idea how I fixed my slow 3g! I didn't call Rogers, I didn't call Apple.

Good luck with all of you. You're welcome to repeat my process. Still doing some testing hoping to revert back to my slow laginess so I can try Restoring it. But for now, since everything is perfect, I don't want to touch it.
