iPhone 3G not recognizing Jabra EarWave after iOS4 upgrade

This seems to be a new twist on what I've read here. I have two headsets, a Jawbone II bluetooth and a Jabra EarWave wired headset. After upgrading to iOS4, I've had no problems with the Jawbone. In fact, it's better; I now get a ring tone in my ear instead of beeping. But the 3G no longer recognizes the Jabra as a headset. When I plug it in, I can hear through the speaker, but the microphone doesn't work, nor does the "call end" button. When it's plugged in, the list of audio options no longer includes "headphone," it just shows up as iPhone, so I assume the phone is treating it as a speaker. I use my phone for business and I got the wired headset because I sometimes got complaints about the sound quality from the bluetooth headset. Any suggestions as to how to get my 3G to recognize my EarWave?

I've dug a little deeper into the problem and what seems to be happening is that, after my Jawbone headset has been turned on and connected with the phone, even if I don't actually use it to make or answer a call, the phone doesn't recognize the microphone on any wired headset, even the original Apple headset, even with the Jawbone turned off. The profile with the wired headset or the stereo earphones plugged in is "headphones." Is this correct? Shouldn't it be "headset" with the Jabra?
