Wi-Fi Signal Strength Icon Not Showing - But Have Connectivity

I am experiencing a strange problem that just started today. The Wi-Fi strength meter which should display next to the iPad "title" text, is no longer there. This happens even though I HAVE Wi-Fi access (can surf no problem).

I first noticed this after, after I created an Ad-Hoc network (Windows 7), connected to it via the iPad, and then proceeded to shut it down, and then clicked on "Forget This Network" on the iPad. Now it does not matter which network I connect to, the strength icon is not displayed.

I have already tried rebooting the iPad, and clearing all network settings (General / Reset / Reset Network Settings).

I really want to avoid doing a full firmware install. Any suggestions?

Hi there, Just got the iPad mini and within two weeks same issue arose. So I called - they said to do a hard reset (hold select and power button until silver apple appears) and let the thing reboot. The icon returned after that in IOS 6. Don't know if someone already gave this answer, just didn't want to read through all the posts since last February!

A hard reboot fixed mine....

First double tap your home button and tap and hold an icon until it wiggles. Then close each app by pressing the - sign (NOTE IF YOU SEE THE X SIGN, YOU DID IT WRONG. DO NOT PRESS THE X IT WILL DELETE YOU APP AND ITS DATA!!!!!)

Ok now the hard reboot...

Hold the power and home buttons down at the same time until the Apple logo appears. The screen will go black first but keep holding....

Hope this helps.

My ipad has had this problem since yesterday evening, moments before it was working perfectly and after turning it off and back on again after experiencing some trouble with connecting to the internet I found that the wifi signal strength icon had gone and despite it seeming to pick up my netgear, the tick doesnt appear next to the chosen access point and I cant access internet. I have tried everyone's suggestions at least three or four times and the hard reboot too many times to count yet nothing seems to work...anymore suggestions?

I just had this happening. Wifi connection working well but no signal strength icon (or network activity star) on my iPad Retina bought recently and running 6.1.3.

Restarting did nothing.

Turning on Airplane Mode, then turning on Wifi then turning Airplane Mode off again did the trick.

Whatever it is, it has to be a ridiculous bug. I can't believe they can get away with these problems on such expensive products.
