slideshow will not play

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Have you tried creating a second slideshow and see if that one works. If it does, delete the problem slideshow, recreate it and try again.

As a Test:

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

I format my macbookpro, install the mac os Leopard and the ilife09.
I have (for now) just 10 photos and the problem is the same...the slide show dosn't works...

This is for all posters in this topic:

The only thing I can think of, and it's a guess, is a problem with the graphic card. All three of the posters in this topic have MacBook Pros. What graphic card are you running? What model of MBP do you have? Have you created a slideshow with the "+" button or trying to launch a slideshow by selecting an album and clicking the Play button at the bottom?

I've got a 15" MBP 2,2 with the ATI Radon X1600 graphics card. iPhoto slideshows run fine. Let's see if there's a common item with your MBPs that might point to the problem. You are all running 10.6.4, correct?

Hello once again.
My computer could have this problem, because is MacBook Pro (Early 2008).
But for now i don´t have any kind of this sintoms:
* Distorted or scrambled video on the computer screen
*No video on the computer screen (or external display) even though the computer is on

You think that it could be it...Coud be graphic card?!?

I don't know. At least in this topic all of the users with the problem have MacBook Pros but we don't know how they compare. I'd also post in the MacBook Pro forum and describe what you've already tried and give them the model of the MBP and type of graphic card. You can find that by holding down the Option key and go to the Apple menu and select "System Profiler". You can get the card type in the Graphics section.

I have exactly the same problem with my brand new Mac Mini. Only Events with pictures dispached in numerous folders have the problem. If I re-import this event so that all the pictures gets back in one only folder on the disk, the problem is solved.

I'm having this problem, slideshow was working fine now suddenly it doesn't.

I have a MacBookPro

iPhoto 8.1.2
OSX 10.5.8

I tried the suggestions here to no avail

I have the latest Mac Mini with all the latest updates. The slideshows stopped working today. The ad-hoc slideshow would not launch and when I try to create a slideshow with the [+] button at the bottom left, it does not create one. The slideshows were working just fine a couple of days ago. None of the recommended fixes seem to help.

Have you installed any updates prior to this problem starting? If a new test library exhibits the same problem log into another user account on your Mac and try a slideshow there. Report back with the results.

Same problem here on a Macbook (2.2 GHz / 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM with all the latest updates from 10.6.4)
Tried the above solutions but none of them working. Slideshows still won't start, not from scratch and not from a set of selected photos and also creating a slideshow's not working.

I have the same problem with my new Macbook Pro. I'm running OS X 10.6.4. It was working fine and then one day it wasn't. I think there is some bug with the latest set of updates, but it could be something else.
