Iphone 4: No problem

as difficult as it is for you to accept that other people might not have any problems with their phones, that is the case... the innuendos and 'guarantees' will not work here. maybe you should go to other threads for 'iPhone 4: With Problem' and leave this one to people who can 'guarantee' they have not had any problems with their phones. good luck.

so i am guessing your are refering to the new antena problem here. well even though this is a great artical and great testing results for consumers he still thinks the iphone 4 is great with cell reception. he thinks it is better than the nexus and 3gs. this is directly from his site.

From my day of testing, I've determined that the iPhone 4 performs much better than the 3GS in situations where signal is very low, at -113 dBm (1 bar). Previously, dropping this low all but guaranteed that calls would drop, fail to be placed, and data would no longer be transacted at all. I can honestly say that I've never held onto so many calls and data simultaneously on 1 bar at -113 dBm as I have with the iPhone 4, so it's readily apparent that the new baseband hardware is much more sensitive compared to what was in the 3GS. The difference is that reception is massively better on the iPhone 4 in actual use.

With my bumper case on, I made it further into dead zones than ever before, and into marginal areas that would always drop calls without any problems at all. It's amazing really to experience the difference in sensitivity the iPhone 4 brings compared to the 3GS, and issues from holding the phone aside, reception is absolutely definitely improved. I felt like I was going places no iPhone had ever gone before. There's no doubt in my mind this iPhone gets the best cellular reception yet, even though measured signal is lower than the 3GS.

dont get me wrong the glue discolor is not good. i think that problem isnt with all though but the proxy problem yes that is with all and really thats a problem? come on man its a new product and if you dont know apple that is a VERY simple programing fix that will be fixed in a bug update very soon. sorry about the screen but the phone is great if you give it a chance. your bound to find things when you let 1.7 million people try out your product. things will get fixed and tip for the future if you want a perfect product then you might not want to be one of the first to by a bran new product.

I am personally glad to see the no problem posts. I know three people who have gotten the phone and none of them have problems. I realize that is a very small sample, but if you think about it so is this forum! There were 1.7 million phones sold in a few days. That's a lot of phones! I don't see even half or a third or a quarter of those 1.7 million people posting that they have problems. My guess is (an it is just that, a guess) that just like with any other major electronic release, there are units that have issues and there are units that don't. In my experience, Apple puts out good products. I'm sticking with their track record and assuming that the problems that do exist will eventually be resolved. I still can't wait to get mine!

Just understand that even the AT&T reps as well as Apple's are telling you not to block that antenna at the bottom. I always use a case so not so much an issue for me and if you are in a strong 3G area you may see very little fluctuation either way.

I'm in the no problems camp too. And to say that ALL iP4's have issues and we just "don't know" (or maybe implying we are too stupid to recogize) if we have problems is insulting to say the least. I've been reading these doom and gloom posts and honestly, the vocal minority would have everyone believe the phone *****. My phone works MUCH better than my 3G (I didn't have the 3GS). Call clarity is better. Accessing apps and the internet is faster. Facetime is cool. Multi-tasking (albeit sort of multi-tasking) works well. The camera is 100 times better and the list goes on and on.

If some people are that upset over their new phones and just aren't willing to wait for a firmware update (because they " know" their problems are hardware), they should return the phone and get something else to complain about. At a miminum, they shouldn't join a thread entitled: Iphone 4: No problem and spew their anger at those of us who aren't unhappy.

Big Steve, mfoto is NOT replying to you. Please stop getting upset and realize how the threading feature works. If his post is at the same indent level as yours then he is replying to the same person you are replying to. He is saying the exact same thing as you and yet you keep getting upset with him.

I'm pretty much seeing the same reception behavior as the reviewer. If I'm in an area with a very strong signal I barely see any fluctuation no matter where my hand is. If I go to a marginal area I can definitely get the bars to drop by putting my hand on the "right" spot. However I use a case 99% of the time so this isn't really an issue. Regardless even when the bars drop I've never lost a call or not been able to make one, just as the reviewer noted this phone really does lock onto a signal even if it is weak. All in all I'm extremely happy with the phone and would heartily recommend it. There have been reception issues with every iPhone, I've had them all. Just about all of them have been solved by software and network upgrades from Apple and AT&T. Most new phones have such issues, it's just that this one gets far more attention than any other one out there.

I honestly think that we're seeing so many reports because the antenna is on the outside and people are thinking that this new feature is what is causing the problems. Since they didn't know where the antenna was on previous models they could not attribute signal issues to it.

With my 3G I received zero signal in my office cubicle. The battery would chew down to nothing by the end of the day, unless I went into Airplane mode. With my new iPhone 4 (32GB) I actually receive 2 bars in the same seat, same cubicle, same office. I have been in this new job since December and never once was able to receive a call or make a call from my seat. Happily, now I can.

I do have the proximity issue periodically. So I am not without a reported problem. But I am not seeing any of these antenna issues, no matter how hard I have tried to cover the problem area with my hand. I then put a case on it to protect my investment.
