i think most people aren't testing the actual data speeds using a speed tester. they see full bars and think it's fixed. I don't think a case will solve this problem to be honest.

show us the proof then, or are you just speculating too

well i don't have proof, but, me not being a complete moron, I can kind of make an educated guess that anything touching an antenna (that isn't meant to be touching anything in the first place) would be kind of bad for the antenna itself and could result in problems. logic is fun.

Well I've got good news & bad news to report with my case. At least in my testing thus far, the case does indeed stop the signal loss. I've only been to one of my favorite sites for this test, but it did work 100%.

However, the data issue remains. At this same location I often got zero speeds on Speed Test with or without the case. This issue just does not seem to have relationship to how the phone is held or if it's even held at all.

But at least the phone is looking better.

This is the key point, just because you have signal bars is only half the problem, i have never had a dropped call or ever seen the signal dropped to 'searching' but the data rates are rubbish and way less than my 3GS. A case will NOT fix it, you are at best keeping signal strong enough to hold a call, but you still have a phone with a noisey signal what is much worse than a 3GS !. Try speed test. Its a sad fact, nothing we can do will solve this problem !

I've never had a case on any cell phone or PDA. Going back 20 years. Never damaged one because of lack of a case, either. Cases all make the device look ugly. I have a belt pouch where it resides when not in use, but no case, no screen protector.

Lawrence... I'm with you. No case. This, to me, (with Apple/ a company I adore) needs to be FIXED and QUICK by Apple.

Everyone knows apple Is just trying to play if off like it's know big deal. News flash apple you we have a problem it's not just 1 or 2 people telling you this it's thousands of people. I work for a big car manufacture when you have a problem with you product own up to the issue and fix it. For example a car has a Major issue we recall it at manufactures expense not like apple passing the so called fix on for the customer to pay. Nice move but it's not going to work. 30 cent bumper to make. 30 dollars to fix Nice one apple QUALITY.... Haha

I have owned the Original iPhone, 3G, 3GS and now the iPhone 4. I have also had a case on each and of them within a week of owning them. I have the iPhone 4 cellular signal issue, I bought a $20 case for it not for the signal issue but to protect it. Since putting the case on I have had no cellular signal issue so far. As far as 3G speed issues i didn't notice any problem before putting on a case. Here are the cellular speed test results I just ran. I was at my desk, wifi was off, case on, Oklahoma City to Houston.
