Apple doesn't leave it's buyers in the lurch!

From a thread that was just deleted, probably because it exceeded 100K in size.

My iPhone 4 works with no antenna problems, as long as I have it in a case. I bought a Body Glive case yesterday, and everything had been great ever sense. Before that the antenna problem was quite bad.

Be patient: Apple will do the right thing.
In the mean time, get a 29.00 iPhone 4 case from a local AT&T Store.
Or, online for $22.

Also, appreciate that based on their history,
Apple will make it right.

No, I do not work for Apple, AT&T, or Body Glove.

But, putting the iPhone 4 changed everything!
Works 100% now in last 28 hours since buying the case here in the Pittsburgh area.

Just trying to help!

Hey Tom,

Since you are an electrical engineer thought you might be able to shed some light on this.

Also - I actually think Apple tested the device thoroughly, I mean the first thing you tend to think about with these devices is inteference through contact with the user and given the iPhone 4's design, this is one of the most obvious things to test. I actually think that using the technology in the link above they have been able to mitigate this issue to a large extent but their baseband software isn't working properly for some reason. Obviously this is all speculation but would be interesting if you could read the above article to decipher whether Apple could somehow be boosting the antenna to account for the interference?

Very interesting link. Thanks for posting it.

I bought the iPhone over some fantastic Android phones ONLY because it was so gorgeously designed. This design flaw has completely spoiled my appreciation of the iPhone4 and I would like to return it.

Apple are absolutely NOT doing the right thing by NOT allowing customers who are upset and want a refund to be able to take their phones in to their network providers and cancel their brand new contracts.

I am disgusted in Apple.

I agree with being positive. I have the iPhone 4 and after getting the bumper I have had not one issue. I too believe that they will fix the issue with another update. Have a little patience and faith. We all want things to be fixed immediately, but the reality is that until things are put in a real scenario, for example the number of phones being used at the same time, it is difficult to anticipate every problem. If I could spend the money for the iPhone 4 even with my upgrade price, I can afford the bumper.

I have to agree with alan, I have had every iphone since the first one before the prices were subsidized and people looked at you crazy for having one. When one buys a brand new electronic device the day it comes out he can expect that there might be a chance that there are some issues or that some defective models were given out.
In my time with apple i have be very suprised at how easy it has been for some people to walk into the apple store with a problem and walk out with a new iphone, I on the other hand have never had to replace a single iphone.
I have faith that over time these problems will be addressed wether they be hardware or software based and some recompense will be made to the consumers. To those who are considering cancelling their orders maybe you should do so and give these matters some time to be addressed. I am in love with my new iphone 4 and have had no issues with it, i have no plans to get rid of it anytime soon.

This comment is right on target:
"You have it right. Apple's history is to take care of its customers no matter what it takes when it's their fault.
Don't confuse Jobs with Gates."

Steve and Apple will make it right!

Also, Apple is still working on the problem, so they can't priced a solution right now.

I suggest you buy a case at AT&T. It's returnable within 30 days.

And, please be patient! Engineering fixes take time.

Thanks,
Alan

You should also keep in mind that not everyone is having a problem, but those who do are very vocal about it. If I listened to everyone in these forums I would have cancelled my iPad order. However, neither my son or I have had any problems with ours. I got log me in so I can access my MacAir and rarely use it anymore. I can access our work database with my iPad and do all my documentation. Okay this is turning into an iPad ad so I will shut up. I have a 16gb iPhone 4 and so does my foster son. They both work great. My son and I are making the six hour round trip to the nearest apple store in St. Louis to pick up his 32 gb. When my 32 gb arrives from China next week my wife will take my current 16gb. I have had every version of the iPhone, yes back to the first one that was not subsidized. I have had to return one that was not working, but that happens with all kinds of things. So relax, have a tequila shot and enjoy. I also love the fact that I have always been able to sell my old iPhone on eBay for enough to pay for the new one. What other product can you do that with?

I'm happy the case fixes it for you.

But also appreciate for many people myself included that the attenuation caused by normal sensible operation a case does next to nothing to fix the problem.

And nothing short of a recall and a redesign would fix it.

Expecting people to have to fork out for a £30 to stick a rubber band around their £600 phone simply to get it to function unlike any other phone is simply ridiculous.

The sooner Apple get to grips with the fact that it appears this area of Engineering seems to be a very weak at apple along with QA of their manufacturing which has plagued previous Iphone releases has now seemed to have become a theme the better.

That and the flaws in the design concept, both with the poor attennea and fixing 2 pieces of brittle Glass on a rigid metal frame was like saying hey lets make the most breakable phone ever!

Apple doesn't leave it's buyers in the lurch!
