Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Apple doesn't leave it's buyers in the lurch!

From a thread that was just deleted, probably because it exceeded 100K in size.

My iPhone 4 works with no antenna problems, as long as I have it in a case. I bought a Body Glive case yesterday, and everything had been great ever sense. Before that the antenna problem was quite bad.

Be patient: Apple will do the right thing.
In the mean time, get a 29.00 iPhone 4 case from a local AT&T Store.
Or, online for $22.

Also, appreciate that based on their history,
Apple will make it right.

No, I do not work for Apple, AT&T, or Body Glove.

But, putting the iPhone 4 changed everything!
Works 100% now in last 28 hours since buying the case here in the Pittsburgh area.

Just trying to help!

Alan

Hey Tom,

Since you are an electrical engineer thought you might be able to shed some light on this.

Also - I actually think Apple tested the device thoroughly, I mean the first thing you tend to think about with these devices is inteference through contact with the user and given the iPhone 4's design, this is one of the most obvious things to test. I actually think that using the technology in the link above they have been able to mitigate this issue to a large extent but their baseband software isn't working properly for some reason. Obviously this is all speculation but would be interesting if you could read the above article to decipher whether Apple could somehow be boosting the antenna to account for the interference?

They have never let you down?

You bought a several hundred dollar iPhone and HAD TO buy a $29.99 case to make it WORK? And they didn't pay for it? And they have never let you down?

I'd love to see you buying a car. "Oh, Sir, by the way, we didn't put a final clearcoat on the car. To prevent it from rusting you need to buy a clearcoat applicator kit, but it's only $500.00 and we're NOT going to pay for it...you must pay for it yourself." You: "Oh, ok, since I spent $35,000.00 on this car, $500.00 is a small price to pay to get it to work the way it's intended....oh, and I'd probably buy turtle wax for it over the years so it's not a big deal.."

Are you kidding?

When's the last time you were able to order a new car and NOT opt for a clearcoat on it? Who cares if it's in the itemized list? I looked at the itemized list for my latest car: included are airbags, anti-lock brakes, oh, and emissions controls and you can't opt OUT of them, either. It's still supposed to be put on the car, just like the iphone is supposed to work out of the box.

Poor analogy aside, you get the point, don't you?

I understand and respect everyone's point if view.

I just have a different point of view.

I am happy to spend $30. for the pleasure if having a 100% operational iPhone. It is worth it to me, especially since I would probably be buying a hard case anyway. I bought a case for my last two iPhones.

Just a different point of view.

Thanks for your constructive comments!

I absolutely understand your point. I simply spent $30. to buy a case that solved the problem, and I was going to buy a case anyway. Now, I get the pleasure of a totally functional iPhone 4 for a small price; in fact no cost since I would buy a case anyway.

Just a different point if view. I'm happy.

Thanks,
Alan
