hdv1080 vs dvcpro1080

What is the difference between hdv1080 and dvcpro1080? Which one should I use in my project and which one has a better quality?

I used to work with HDV 1080i 60, using Canon and Sony HD cameras.

Thanks,

HDV 1080 is 1440x1080 anamorphic. DVCPRO HD is 1280x1080 anamorphic.
HDV is tape based only. DVCPRO is tape based, and tapeless with P2. No, wait, the Z7u added tapeless. OK, they are recorded with different cameras
HDV is long GOP interframe (look it up in wikipedia). VERY processor intensive, HIGHLY compressed. 25megabit standard. DVCPRO HD is 100megabit, less processor intensive, and still compressed, but not so much
HDV has a 4:2:0 color space. DVCPRO HD has a 4:2:2 color space.

You use the one you shot. If you shot DVCPRO HD, then you edit DVCPRO HD. If you shot HDV, then you capture and edit HDV (or ProRes).

I used to work with HDV 1080i 60, using Canon and Sony HD cameras.

Then you use an HDV workflow. DVCPRO HD is for DVCPRO HD cameras.
