UPDATE: Read at your own risk. (no fanboys)

WARNING: If you are going to pick up your new iPhone 4 get there at least two hours before store closes.

Yes, I'm ******. Got the long anticipated email notification that my iPhone was ready for pick up. After only 19 days (which is 15 days later than idiot employee said I should expect it). I have a real job, like most of you, and the Apple store is not exactly next door, again like most of you, so could not get there until 8:30pm. Store closes at 9pm. Should not have been a problem, but it was. I was told I was too late and they could not process any more iPhone purchases. There were already eight people waiting. What? Eight customers and 20 Apple employees. How hard is this? I complained to the manager only to hear that idiot tell me they will already be there until midnight processing iPhones. What? Eight iPhones takes three hours. No wonder Apple can't get these things out there. The manager is extending my "24 hr chance" to "72 hours", but big deal. I already drove 45 miles and crossed a toll bridge to pick this up. I'll obviously do it again like a good little Apple addict, but this is by far the worst purchase experience in my life. Not just for Apply, but for anything I have ever bought. Apple still makes the best products, but I don't expect they will remain on top for long. They are ripe for the pickings, just like Microsoft was. Apple is truly the new evil empire.

Anyway, I'm just venting here. The take away is get there early to pick up your iPhone. I have to wait till Saturday now.

BTW: The store - Walnut Creek, CA.

That was just your particular store being a pain in the arse. I'm sure all the employees wanted to go home on time so they decided to keep the line "short". I too got my email today that my iP4 was ready for pick up (YESSS) and arrived at the apple store at 8:30PM before a 9:00PM close. They had 30 people in line or so, and stopped the line after the person behind me. They asked the employees to stay late, and many employees were helping two customers at once (they were working two scanning devices). We didn't leave the store until after 10:00 PM and they were more than happy to stay longer to help if needed. (This is the Rancho Cucamonga, CA store at Victoria Gardens Mall).
I'm sorry Walnut Creek had such a problem with it. Hopefully when you go back there will be no issues and you can get your new phone. I am syncing my phone as I write this and can't wait to get a full days use out of it tomorrow.

I would believe that there is some truth to those articles stating that the apple stores would be fulfilling all orders this weekend.

I had been holding out for the white iPhone, until yesterday when i heard about the "end of the year" announcement, so I called an apple store here in VA and put my name on the list.

Got my confirmation email this morning to come and pick up my phone.
So those of you in VA, try your luck at the apple store here. Maybe you too can get a phone quicker.
