Facebook notification sound missing

It's a joke. I need my Facebook notification sounds because some people posting on my work page experience mental illness and I need to respond immediately. I don't think they care - posts about this date back to 2010.

Let me tell you how I sorted this problem, it's only a viable option if you get free messages on your phone.

If you go to facebook settings you can register your phone for text alerts.

hxxp://www.facebook.com/mobile/?settings (remove xx and spaces)

One you have done this you will get a text message from FB which is free alerting you to the post or anything connected with your account.

You can then reply via the text message or a new email address that FB gives you. You can also do status updates by sending a message to 32665. You'll receive messages from this number 22660012.

Then go into you iphone settings>notifications and turn off alerts, notifications, app icon etc for Facebook, but leave sounds on in case they fix it.

Its not an ideal solution but it seems to work so far. Pass it round if it works for you.

I'm posting this on 1 more site then I'll leave it to other people to do.

Still not working for me, despite upgrading EVERYTHING (iOS and Facebook).

Then today - an odd thing happened. I received a FB notification - a sound - and the light on the back flashed. However, the sound was NOT one that I'd selected!

It only happened that one time and not again for the rest of the day.

I give up!

I actually think a couple of programmers at Apple and FB are having a hilarious practical joke here. I've seen hundreds of posts about this across loads of different online platforms - can't fix it? Are you serious?

I get the usual visual notifications but the sounds seem to not work. I've checked all the settings and all the sounds work for the other applications just not facebook and uninstalling, reinstalling and a complete phone restore hasn't helped.

Same, I went from an old android device to the super amazing Iphone 5 back in october, guess what., I had no notification troubles with that potato I had for a phone, and now, I just dont know when people post on my wall, like/comment on my posts.. unless I open the app, no sound, no banners.

Notifications are perfectly set up, I've been trying to get around this problem since back in october, read loads of posts with the same issue, updates came through, but nothing, the problem persists and it's a huge disappointment.

I can't believe this is even an issue.. Iphone 5 2013.. come on apple/facebook, we actually paid dear to have a great device, this isn't supposed to happen.

I think it's an app issue because I have more then just Facebook having the issue, yet I have other apps that notify just fine. GetGlue worked fine and notfied with sound and visual, then their update came out this week and low and behold... no sound notifications.

I think Apple may have made some changes in iOS6 that the app developers have not made adjust for.

whats frustrating me is that like previous users i get alerts for everything with sound down the certain game apps and yet when it comes to facebook itll make a sound when i post from my notifications tab but thats it. I get a sound from facebook messenger app 95% of the time but every now and then that doesnt even make a sound. I think the person earlier that said maybe iOS 6 had some characteristics some apps werent prepared for or hadnt accounted for may be onto something, i just cant believe its taking them this long to figure something out. or they really just DONT care. maybe all these networking apps are trying to do too much and its causing glitches since they're trying so hard to make the apps EXACTLY like the desktop pages.... IDK buts its making me crazyyyyy

unfortunately buddy... theres no solution yet. you can try the route that others have used and set up text alerts for your notifications through the app but other than that we are all still waiting for it to be fixed. noone seems to know if the problem is an app issue or a hardware/iOS issue.. we are kind of in limbo about this thing,

well i just got a sound from a facebook notification. i was in another app.. a game and got a comment and it played a sound then didnt play anymore. The LED is flashing but no sounds! thats more frustrating than not getting them at all!! ugh!

ok! i just got another sound. someone mentioned me in a comment. only thing that is different that i have done is i downloaded menu tab for facebook onto my MacBook Air and logged into that. and got the sound on my notification! only problem with that is i cant take my laptop and internet card in my pocket everywhere i go. lol wonder how thats making things different!

well now i am getting sounds from facebook anytime someone tags me in a comment. its a slow start but a start none the less... its happened more than a couple times now today! hope this is a good sign.

I too have the same problem. I had my Iphone 3 weeks and discovered that there was no sound when recording videos, made an appointment with the genius bar who found I had a faulty phone. They replaced the phone and I told them about the facebook notification problem at the same time. Their reply was to uninstall the app and reinstall it. I have done this loads of time and still no notification sounds. I get sounds for all the games I play on facebook but nothing when someone writes a post. In fact I get sounds for everything else except facebook!!!!!!! I was going to go back and see the genius bar people again but I guess I am wasting my time!!!!! I have an I phone 4 version 6.1.3 and the facebook version is 5.6 dated 18.3.2013.

so far the only sound i get from facebook is when someone tags me in something. i get sounds for that. nothing else. so frustrating. so i just turned on the text alert in the facebook notification settings through the app not the phone. that way i dont miss things i want to get alerts for. but as it stands theres no solution cuz i have unintalled reinstalled updated synced checked alllll my settings im done messing with it but i will say ive been checking out other types of phones because as much as i love apple i dont pay what i do for a smartphone/data package to be restricted in use!

I had iPhone 4 when this started to happened, in Sept 2012, now I just bought iPhone 5...... and did't fix it!!!

I thought i was iPhone 4 problem........but I can see is not....... any solutions???
