I have been having the problem since the new ios 6 update unfortunately resetting the phone uninstalling or installing the the app has not worked. I have no sound from Facebook or Instgram notification only top bar notification and LED light flashes same happend on IPhone 4 and now on the IPhone which i received 3 days ago

My work around soultion is this turn on Email Notification via your laptop or PC and use an email account you can setup using Exchange something like Gmail and have your facebook notifications sent via email, I know it is pain to delete the emails if you get a lot of notification but atleast you will not miss any.

In the mean time let hope facebook actually care about its users and fix the issue

Mine has not worked since september. they used to have a support forum on facebook with a huge thread about it. but facebook deleted it. such a bummer. I miss important facebook things due to this. However I do heard sounds for messages I get to the facebook app (not the messages app, i dont have that).

I have submitted things countless times to their support and hear nothing back.

I just got my iPhone 5 on Jan 20th and the notification sound for Facebook is not functioning. I do get the banner, and there is a little number in a red circle in the upper right corner of the Facebook icon on the home screen, but that's it.

How do you get the LED light to flash, please?

Another oddity - for the past two days, when I received a new email, it would play a sound, but NOT the sound I selected! Finally, I turned off the sound for email notifications, but it STILL kept playing the "Bloom" sound that I never asked for. I think it has finally fixed itself but that was really weird.

It sounds as if there is nothing we can do about the FB notification sound but watch and wait. Oh well. I am still enjoying my new phone.

I will try updating to iOS 6.1 once I get home and can be connected to my WiFi (I can't do that here at work). I hope that solves the Facebook notification sound issue.

In the past week I have finally learned that there is no flashing light to let you know you have an incoming communication, unlike, say, a BlackBerry has. That's fine - as long as I know there is no such function, then my phone is working beautifully.

I am pretty sure its not an iphone OS thing or a facebook app thing. I think its a database issue on the facebook side that affected certain accounts. All the people it affects doesnt matter what device they are on. Us users suffering this may never get a fix unless we deleted our facebook accounts and signed up again. That is what I am thinking.

Mine hasn't made a sound since I got the phone in October. I have checked all the setting for sound in general notifications and in the app and all signs point to go. I also update to latest iOS and then uninstalled and reinstalled Facebook then did a hard restart and still no.. This is highly frustrating. Never had this problem with my 3GS... Hope we get a solution.
