Infrared Receiver not working

Hello guys,
I recently bought the latest 15" MacBook Pro with Core i5 processor and hi-res display. I also bought a remote controller together with it.

I'm trying to use the IR remote with the MBP, but without success. Whatever button I press, the laptop will simply not respond. I tried the remote with my iMac, and it works fine, so the problem should be with the receiver.

The IR receiver is correctly enabled, the MBP is not paired with any remote, and all the other settings should be fine. I even tried a month ago the CandelaIR package and the receiver started to work in the best of the ways. But today is the same old situation.
Probably something changed after the 10.6.4 update.

Could anyone tell me how can I solve this problem? Should you need any additional info, please let me know.

I just tried uninstalling CandelaIR, and rebooting the machine with the Command-Option-P-R combination.

Nothing changed. Under the list of the machine's devices I can see the IR receiver installed under the USB hub:

Try creating another user on your laptop and check if the remote is working for that user

I just created a new user, Test, logged out from mine and logged in as Test. The IR seems to work correctly.
How can I make things work with my normal user too?

I add also that the MBP has this problem almost from the beginning, so I cannot think of a particular program as the cause of the malfunction. I should clearly be wrong, though.

As it's working with another user account but not yours my best suggestions is to re-install the latest 10.6.4 COMBO update and see if that fixes it.

I too have the problem. wouldn't pair until i installed Candelair. It would then work for awhile and after coming back from sleep/standby i lose it again. i would have to unpair it in candelair, disable IR in candelair, reboot, reenable ir, re-pair, to get it working again.

i think using Rowmote app on the itouch/iphone is more robust!

I tried this:
- uninstalled Candelair
- reinstalled 10.6.4 Combo Update
- reboot MacBook Pro (IR still not working)
- reinstalled Candelair (IR now fully working)

I shall wait a couple of days to understand if the problem reappears. Hope it will not.
