Converting Multiple MP3 Tracks Into One MB4

I have many audiobooks in my iTunes library. Some purchased from Audible.com. Some I've purchased on CD, etc.

The audiobooks from Audible.com come in one single file in MB4 format, which is what I want.

My question is regarding the audiobooks I have which consist of multiple MP3 files. When I imported them into my iTunes library I changed the type of file from "Music" to "Audiobook" and selected the "Remember Playback Position" option. I also created separate playlists for them. However, they are still cumbersome to listen to because I have to rememeber which track in the playlist I listened to last.

For my audiobooks that have multiple MP3 files, I would like to be able to convert those into one single audiobook in MB4 format, so that I am able to listen to just one audiobook file for that particular audiobook.

Does anyone know of a easy, simple and fail-proof way to do this?

If so, thanks in advance!

Thank you for the response (and the link). Much appreciated.

At the link you provided, it recommends downloading a software (MP3 to iPod Audiobook Converter). I have a question for you: how have you found that software? Any problems with it? It's a legit software program that won't cause viruses/spyware on your computer?

I also noticed that it said the software doesn't add chapters in between the tracks. Are you still able to easily pick up where you left off with the audiobook?

Thanks!

That was the first one I came across. When I did my audiobooks years ago I can't remember if it was that or another bit of software, the software run fine and the process was pretty painless.

I've removed the audiobooks since then so I can't say/remember if chapters were placed in the file.

Have a nosey about, you may find an even better software to do the task. 🙂

That may be better as it only uses iTunes.

Have a go, tell me if it works. I may just do mine again.

-> Join Together
"Join Together automates the process of joining the files of selected iTunes tracks together with QuickTime and exporting them as a single AAC Music or Audiobook file/track. Optionally, you can then create a "chapterized" audio file of the exported AAC file with pointers to the individually joined tracks."

Haven't tried this one -> Audiobooker
"Convenient, intelligent AppleScript interface for ripping audiobook tracks with iTunes. Features include multiple CD support, intelligent track ordering and user-editable track naming. Excellent for prepping your audiobook tracks for iPod."
