Bike Mount for iPhone 4

Just got my new iPhone and have started riding more seriously - any recommendations on a good bike mount, I'm not price sensitive as it will be holding a $700 phone at 25mph over bumps.

Thanks

It does work quite well actually, and if it rains you don't immediately panic as it's waterproof.

The straps initially were very long so i had to trim them once i'd fit the pack to the bike, but i think that's the idea so at least it will fit around larger diameter frames. The pack does move slightly side to side as there's a strap that wraps around the stem of your bike, but it's not enough movement to worry you - at least on my bike anyway. I'm REALLY protective over my gear and i'm totally at ease sticking my phone in this pack.

There's enough room underneath too for my 5000maH battery pack, and using the Apple charging cable from this i've technically got several days of power on tap. There's also a hole on the top to feed through headphones should you require it.

Bargain! (I don't work for them btw, i'm in the UK, just a happy customer).

I haven't been able to find a good enough one yet...so I made my own as a stopgap measure.

I blagged a standard seat post reflector mount from my local bike shop, then took some thermosetting plastic (little polymer granules that soften if you boil them in water, then harden when they get below 60C) and made the cradle piece to exactly fit the iphone 4. I just used 4 "arms" with clips that just go slightly over the top surface of the phone. There's enough give in it that I can bend one arm back a bit, slide the phone in and it will lock in place.

I just did ten very bumpy miles to test it and it's rock solid. The main benefit is it cost nothing....

Still. Those RAM mounts look nice. They might be a bit heavy though. I might get one anyway and see if I can find a good phone rugged phone cradle to attach to it.

Hallo GJM - I have just taken my beautiful new iphone 4 mountain biking in Wales (UK). I have never really seriously mountain biked before and so didnt really know what to expect. In preparation I bought a 'Dahon BioLogic Bike Mount for iPhone' (link below) and had an amazing time following the GPS OS mapping through the trails. However, be warned the Dahon was not up to jumping and the **** phone fell out whist I was in the air going over a jump! - alls well and it was fine thankfully but I would advise that this case is excellent so long as you make some additions: strap it up with tape both to the frame and to ensure that the clasp is firmly closed. I got back on my bike the following day with said additions and all was well!

I could not recommend against using the Dahon BioLogic case more strenuously.

The catch at the bottom of the case is woefully inadequate for holding the handset between the two sides of the shell. I had my phone fall out when riding over a moderately uneven patch of road, subsequently having it fall upon said asphalt and smashing the screen.

The case is also incredibly cheap flimsy plastic, as is the handle bar attachment loop.

The only case I've found to be suitable to hold my phone securely was the GoRide ( http://bicio.com/), but it provides no protection of the screen, and they're yet to release an iPhone 4 shell.

I use a Spiderpodium for road biking, it has steel legs that are very strong and for road bumps it works perfectly and allows you to put it pretty much anywhere. Its $20 direct. I ride about 15 miles three time a week on a Wilier - not 'super serious, but more than casual 😉. Not so sure about mountain biking. I wrap the legs of the Spiderpodium around the breakwires so it is super secure. Anyway they have a gallery and you seem to have plenty of suggestions!

I'm with Woody on this one. I've been spending hours trying to find a waterproof and limited shock bike mount. I'm still searching. I wanted to put my phone in landscape mode and also take video. However, this doesn't announce that you have an iphone mounted to your bike and also offers a place to put extra things. I'm still going to see what else there is to offer but I may end up with this.

I can't recommend the bike mount made by Dahon enough! It's just a great little case and mount. My husband and I have both been using the case for this entire season without any issues. The only way the case will open going over bumps is if it's not securely closed. It is waterproof and shock resistant. It is not intended for the iphone 4 but the phone does fit in the case, just not quite as well. I've had no trouble using either the iphone 3G or the iphone 4 with this case. Dahon even makes a replacement hub for your wheel that will charge the phone while you're riding. I haven't tried it, but it's a cool idea.

In the UK, wet is more of a problem than heat, and if my highly expensive phone is going to be subjected to high speed, vibration, impact, wet cold and heat, then I'm doing to protect it with what I consider to be the best for my purposes.
I've just ordered the BioLogic for iPhone 4 from Amazon USA, as it isn't yet available in the UK I'll let you know how it is.

Re Heat in Arizona, Imagine how hot it would get on the dash of your car, if it were in the sun with no ventilation.
