Can I go Caseless?

I'm with you. Nothing on the phone, just a belt case or a slip case for pocket, depending on how I am carrying it that day.

I'm also going to try caseless. I'm going to put it in my iPod sock. Its worked just fine for my son, his wife, my wife and myself for many years. But the iPhone 4 is another animal, we'll see what happens.

If you will ever lay the phone down on any type of surface I'd say no way, unless you had a protector of some sort on the back because the back glass scratches very easily.

Meh.... It's just a phone. Steve said so.

It's not an idol. I'll get a new one next year anyway. Scratches smatches... I like mine's nekkid.

I only used a case with my original iPhone for a few months to get used to how to hold it and such. I've now been caseless for a couple years with absolutely no issues. I also prefer a nekkid iPhone. :3

I dont use any case either.
Just have to be more careful, bc this phone will break very easy.

Yes it is just a phone however I'd rather know that I can resell mine in a year in pristine condition and likely get more monies for it.

Also 2 other reasons to get a case is first obviously it fixes the issue with reception that peeps are going on about, and secondly the way the phone is shaped is different from the previous ones and doesn't feel as comfy in the hand nekkid as previous ones due to the hard edges.

I did go *less on the 3GS, but would not on i4. With the flat back, the cover lens will scratch eventually, and you can then say good bye to your photos, or videos. i The 3GS was rounded, so the cover lens was fine, when the phone laid on any surface.
decided to go cover this time, as on my HTC HD, I did scratch the lens. No way back from there, and I had to actually cut the plastic off. bad bad bad.

If you are prepared to "go phoneless" when you drop it, sure.

Doesn't that mean the front does too? The reviews I read said they were the same glass...

BTW, I was caseless with my 3G for 2 years and I'm caseless now with my 4. I don't like the thought of putting some cheap POS plastic case on my beautiful phone.

You can but I would email Jobs about this?

Now that I think about it, I might go ahead and get a screen protector for the back, simply because it does appear the glass scratches easier. I won't do it for the front because I like the feel of the glass itself for touch reception.

Yes, you can. It's your choice. A phone can break in and out of case. It all depends on how high you drop it from, on what you drop it to, and where the phone gets hit. I have the Apple case around the outside... it's okay but loose and makes noise... not happy. I love Sedio cases, but they do NOT have anything yet (frustrated that they do not!). Why Seidio? They also have a nice holster that protects the front and clips in places where it needs to clip.

I heard Frogz work as nicely but no holster.

So I say, yes, you can. If you are careful and do not put your keys or a meat cleaver in your pocket, you should be fine. If you are shaking and prone to dropping things or just have super sweaty palms, then I say get a case and maybe towel.

I will have nonetheless, though I don't think it needs it. I just like being able to have the phone on my outside.
