I have been trying to get final cut pro to recognize the HVR-Z7U camera with no luck. I have tried multiple easy setup options. I believe the correct one would be the HDV 1080i60 basic firewire but I'm not seeing any video at all. I checked that the menu settings on the camera are set to HDV, and that the Downconversion is off on the ilink menu. I have tried switching to a different Z7U camera, a different mac, a different editing system (AVID), and a different tape. I switched to DV settings and was able to get some audio out, but I can't get communication between the editing system and the camera no matter what.
I only have one firewire port on the macbook pro. I have a firewire card that gives me 2 other ports, but my understanding is that you need the camera to go in direct and not through a card. The camera is def set to HDV.
