IPhone 4 Bluetooth Issues

IPhone 4 doesn't allow reasonable range and other issues with bluetooth headset. Fyi, tried with Apple Bluetooth headset which worked perfectly with IPhone 3G & IPhone 3G-S. Issue, you can have IPhone 4 in shirt or pant pocket and bluetooth will disconnect. Also, you can have IPhone 4 inside car and close the door while standing right outside the door and bluetooth disconnects. This never happened with previous models including IPhone 3G-S with IOS 4 installed.

Other bluetooth issues: as others reported - muffled sound quality to person your talking to. Time delays and disconnects with bluetooth Uconnect. IPhone 4 won't let you change between your car audio phone feature back to IPhone 4 without freezing.

Hello Guys!

Tought i would throw in my experience here!

I used to have a Nokia E72 with a SonyEricsson MW600. The headset is just great, and no other bluetooth headsets on the market have these features. I was exited because my new Iphone 4 would make a great companion but no.

The headset installs just fine. And after installation it works great. But as soon as the phone have been down for a couple of minutes, i cannot make a call, and i cannot recieve a call. I have to answer in the phone, then restart the iphone to get it to sync!

Now, if i make a complete new installation of the headset, everything works just fine, i can make voice dials, listen to music, answer calls. But as soon as it have been resting for some mintues it fails. And the connection symbol is still lit.

This topic have 24 pages alone with bluetooth problem, and we can be pretty sure that it isnt the headsets that is the problem here, since we have everything from built in car bluetooths, to expensive plantronics headsets.

Why isnt any Apple rep commenting on this? They cannot have missed it?

Its so so bad of apple to just ignore this, their phone is one of the most expensive on the market, and it should work with bluetooth headsets.

I installed iOS 4.3 today, a straight update without restoring as a new phone. I'll update as time passes.

For what it's worth, I seem to have had better BT performance over the past few days before updating. The only thing I can think of that changed is that I deleted the "Mint" app. It makes no sense why that would cause the problem, but it's the only thing that's really changed. Anyone else using the Mint app, by chance?

Also I'll go on record and say that ever since Mint was bought by Intuit, they've gone downhill FAST.

Crossing my fingers...

Okay, so here's the update:

Bluetooth has been MUCH better since I upgraded to iOS 4.3. Not perfect, but MUCH better. I no longer seem to drop out in certain locations, and many of the issues have been resolved for me. Every once in a while, I get some dropouts which force me to reboot my phone, but after the reboot, its fine. Now I would hope that it was perfect, and if I hadn't lived with these issues for so long I'd probably still be upset at the issues that remain, but for now I'm glad that it works as well as it does.

I did see issue of connecting with my car's Handsfree (ACURA RDX). with iPhone 3G, I never had this issue but with iPhone 4. Pairing was sucessful and connects good but, once I get out the car and comeback even BT is on and paired, it doest connect. I have to Turn-off BT in settings and Turn-on then it shows me connected. this stays same even after new update.

This is not good.

Hi,

Have you triedto disable Bluetooth in the phone. (Turn of Bluetooth or enter flight mode)turn of the headset. Restart the Bluetooth interface in the iPhone and then immediatelyrestart the headset. This will not make your life easier or the Bluetooth moreuseful, but it is interesting to see if you have a behaviour that is similar to my problem.

Or do you needto do a complete re-pairing each time?

I've had my Iphone 4 for 2 months and since I've had it, my Motorola bluetooth "disconnects" at least 15 times a day (maybe more, but I take the bluetooth off my ear because of all the disconnects and reconnects that happen. Is this problem going to be fixed with the Iphone? I'm really considering going to switch brands because its soo annoying to have the Motorola lady said "Iphone disconnected", "Iphone connected" within seconds. It also drops calls and in the middle of a conversation will disconnect then reconnect. Also a lag in the time I switch from Iphone Speaker to Bluetooth! Help.

After several BT earpieces, I found that my last device by accident and it seems to work the best. The one that I am using is a Motorola H720 that hasn't disconnected itself once since being paired. And it is one of the lesser cost devices out there that I would most likely never really would have considered. I found this one by accident when the battery died my Plantronic Voyager Pro. I borrowed the H720 for a couple of days while waiting for the PVP replacement.

Anyways, it doesn't disconnect from my iPhone 4 like the others did time to time. It is amazing considering how many other BT earpieces are out there touting all of the advances they incorporate. It is bulkier than most high end units, but it hasn't failed me yet. I work in a very noisy environment and it works flawlessly. Just saying!

Jabra Headseat + iPhone 4 works great I am able to walk away atleast 15 feet with no problem havent tried anything further since I have no reason to.🙂

Pairing up with Macs. have never been able to do so. iPhone keeps searching and searching it got to the point where i left it for several hours and just ate my battery and never found anything having two macs next to it both in discoverable. 😠

the mac in the other hand is able to see the iPhone pairs up just fine using the mac but when I click connect on the iPhone all it says is cannot connect and I have no other choice but to click on Forget This Device.😠

Hope Apple fixes these problems soon.

Hi All,

As I bloged I was experiancing BT issues with my car. Yesturday, I took my device to apple showroom, at first they blamed my car but, after running the diagnostics on my Phone they figured out that BT in my phone is not working properly and they replaced my device with new one. Now I see no issues with BT connecting to my car Acura RDX and connecting to plantronics backbeat BT headset.

Cheers...

I have the Kenwood DNX418. There are major problems with BT switching between the dock connector for playing music and the BT for phone calls. Calls in seem to work fine. Calls out...not so much. This is disappointing to say the least. I guess I have to wait for people to call me...

Are there any rumors at all of a fix for this issue? I have tried all of my settings. Nothing works and there is no firmware available from Kenwood. The kenwood website lists the pairing of these two as possible but sometimes unstable. Sorry....but that's a cop-out. Fix it.

Anyone know anything?

I am happy to hear that I am not crazy -- that it really was my iPhone 4 causing the incessant dropouts with my jawbones. I could not even pair it with a Motorola and Plantronics that I have (thereby rendered useless). I will give my brand new iPhone4 to my daughter in exchange for my old iPhone 3 which never had any bluetooth problems. Very disappointing. I am still a loyal Apple customer, but I feel stupid having "upgraded" and spent $$ just to be in a frustrated position. I use the bluetooth headsets a lot, and I don't think I should have to buy a different brand to solve this problem! If the phone's in my pocket, that should be near enough...

Still having major problems with the Odyssey. Come to find out it's a problem with software Hands Free Link uses. They know of the problem. Still no fix. Call them and let them know you are also having a problem. I had to buy a blackberry bold and forward calls from the iphone to just have something more stable. So far no problems with that. Good luck with your problem. Let me know what you find out.

Actually, I ended up going to the Apple Store (local in Miami) and they pluged my iPhone4 into a diagnostic computer and said: "Oh, it's defective" and gave me a new one, and, yes, the bluetooth is MUCh stronger (normal like before) since then... So, a happy ending for me. Now (like before with my 3GS) sometimes I forget I'm not carrying my phone with me and walk out to get something out of the car, and then realize - wow, I'm talking through a headset 30 feet from the phone! No longer frustrated - elated.

Best of luck to you all.
