Under 'All Contacts' I have the standard 'Contacts' folder and two subfolders I'll call 'Work' and 'Friends.' It appears I have a choice of 'All Folders' or Selected Folders.' The problem?
I want to sync the 'Contacts' and 'Work' folders but not 'Friends.' Is the 'Contacts' folder ALWAYS synced and, if not, how do I select only 'Contacts' and 'Work?'
My response is based on what is available when syncing contacts with the Address Book on a Mac and I assume the same is available when syncing contacts with Outlook. Under the Info tab for my iPhone sync preferences with iTunes for syncing contacts, I have two options. All Contacts, or Selected Groups - for selected Groups I've created with the Address Book on my Mac. If I choose Selected Groups followed by selecting the "Contacts" and "Work" Groups, only these Groups will be kept synchronized but with the Address Book on a Mac, a contact cannot be in an Address Book Group unless the contact is in the main Address Book library or "All Contacts".
OK, so I wasn't quite honest - I have a 3rd subfolder called 'Test.' How do I delete this?
If this is available under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, this is available in Outlook and it needs to be deleted there.
'Add contacts created outside groups' - how do I select 'Contacts?' It isn't on the list?
This is for when adding a contact on your iPhone that is created outside of a selected Groups such as adding a contact from a received call, etc.
On initial sync I want to suck all the data from my iPhone into Outlook but NOTHING from outlook to the iPhone. Is that possible?
No. With the first sync for this data, you will be provided a merge prompt or a replace on your iPhone prompt - to replace on your iPhone with what is available in Outlook.
