4K ATV not producing HDR through Yamaha receiver with Samsung TV

My issue is I am unable to produce HDR content on my 4K Apple TV when I go through my Yamaha 3080 receiver to my Samsung TV. The best output is SDR.

I recently purchased:

Samsung 75in Q9FN TV

Yamaha Aventage 3080 Receiver

Apple 4k TV

All new HDMI 2.2 / 18 GBPS cables

Similar to many other posts, I have been able to get 4K HDR when connected directly to the Samsung. When I try to pass it through the Yamaha receiver, no luck. I have tried all the video settings on the receiver (i.e. mode 1, direct and through). I'm kind of at a loss right now on what to do.

At this point I'm suspecting its the Samsung having issues doing the handshake with the receiver. I have tried all the settings that I'm aware of on the TV (i.e. turning on UHD Color).

Anyone successful with this issue?
