Apple notes database file grows to a HUGE file size

One of my Apple Notes database files ( "NoteStore.sqlite-wal" ) grows to a huge file size, often up to 40+ GB's in size, when I leave the program open. This is happening on both my 2012 MacBook Air and my 2012 MacBook Pro, both running the latest 10.14.2. When I restart Apple Notes and then click on random notes the database file will instantly shrink back to mere KB's in size (see screen captures). This is are a real problem as it's significantly eating up hard drive space. I was hoping to transition from Evernote but this may be a dealbreaker for me. I imported 3,800 notes from Evernote. The "NoteStore.sqlite" file stays at around 500MB, so that file isn't really a problem for me. Anyone else seeing this with their Apple Notes database file? These database files can be found in your user Home folder > Library > Group Containers > group.com.apple.notes

Greetings, fredfass.

I see that you're having an issue with system file on your MacBook Pro. If you leave the Notes application open, "NoteStore.sqlite-wal" grows in size. Once you close the Notes application, it returns to its normal size. For this issue, I'd like for you to contact Apple Support.

Take care!
