Keyboard Doesn't Work with Thunderbolt USB Port

Hello:

I have a brand-new MBP i7, 15" display with four Thunderbolt ports, and LOTS of things to (hopefully) connect.

Using a Lention USB to Thunderbolt port, I cannot get the keyboard to work, but I can get it to work using a simple USB to Thunderbolt adapter. This is tying up one of the ports, so, I'm hoping to connect all of the following:

TWO displays, via HDMI

ONE keyboard

ONE mouse

ONE Ethernet cable

ONE USB external drive

ONE USB audio interface

Right now I have the power adapter cabled up, also, so we have to add that to the list if possible.

Any suggestions? Anyone out there use the same machine for creative work like audio or video editing? Lots of external devices?

Thanks so much.

Ok, so you already know that your new MBP comes with four Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C type) port, which by themselves, will not be enough to support all of the devices that you would like to connect.

One option is to get an external Thunderbolt 3 dock. Something like this from Other World Computing. Based on what you provided in your post, this may just do the trick.

The multi-port hub you suggested in nice, very expensive and not needed.

I already have a multi-port hub (Lention) as indicated in my initial email. However, I cannot get a keyboard, mouse or external drive to connect using this particular multi-port hub. The HDMI port does work, however.

I just emailed their support team in China, so...we'll see what comes of this.

Thanks.
