Shortcuts 2.1.2 and file services on iphone

I have noticed the “Get File” and “Save File” actions in the Shortcuts 2.1.2 iPhone app no longer have the ability to pick a service (Dropbox or iCloud), showing only the standard iCloud file path.

Strangely, the actions are unchanged on my iPad, allowing either iCloud or Dropbox to be chosen.

Is anyone seeing the same? This has broken some Shortcuts on my iPhone, which continue to function correctly on the iPad.

Thankyou so much for your confirmation of this with your iPhone 7. It’s been impossible to find any information on this problem elsewhere! It does seem to be a case of a feature removed from older phones, but I cannot see why, and there is no documentation detailing it. If I find out anything else, I’ll post it here.

Well, problem seems fixed for me now. Still Shortcut 2.1.2, and ios 12.1.2. Im not sure if ios has been updated since I first posted on this issue (sorry, i should have checked that). But Dropbox is back as a file service. The upside is I did move some files over to iCloud to deal with the problem, and when it has those files cached on the device, it is faster than using Dropbox (which doesn't seem to use the local version of a file even if you store it on-device in the Dropbox app).

Just checked and you're right, it is working. Last time I checked it didn't work for me with Shortcut 2.1.2, and iOS 12.1.2.

So this bug must have been on the Dropbox side, maybe with their API.

Anyways, it is fixed now and working :)

You're also right that iCloud is faster, but the reason I need dropbox is because you cannot make Shortcuts work on a shared file in iCloud.

It will only let you open and save files in iCloud/Shortcuts folder. Once you share this file with someone, they will only be able to place it outside of their Shortcuts folder, hence they cannot modify / edit it via Shortcuts.

Dropbox doesn't have this limitation.
