Unable to downgrade via internet recovery

Hey guys,

I run internet recovery on my 2012 Macbook Pro and it prompts me to install Mojave (instead of the OS that came with the laptop).

Can anyone tell me how I go about reinstalling to the OS that came with the device?

Typically, when doing this via Internet Recovery, I would be able to install the latest available OS that will work on the HW in question. Currently, that would be Mojave. When I choose the Reinstall macOS option from the Utilities menu in IR, however, High Sierra is what I'm getting.Is this a timing issue, e.g., is Mojave just being held back from IR currently and will be offered and available at a later date? If not, is there a way to invoke Mojave as the reinstall option?

Internet Recovery not showing disk I have a mid 2012 macbook pro running catalina. I want to revert back to any previous OS. I 've tried the internet recovery several times. It pops up and says I can install el capitan but it doesn't show any disk for it to download on. I want to keep all my data and don't want to do anything with external drives. What is wrong?

This may happen when you hold down option command R. That was the old method of installing the older version of OS X. With Sierra 10.12.4 or higher, they changed in to Shift-Option-Command R
