Mojave crashes
I updated the OS to Mojave's lasted version. Ever since then my 2011 MacBook pro with an ssd and 8 gig of ram crashes or locks up so I have to do a hard reboot using the power button and such. What can I do to fix this?

I suspect you are having the same problem I am, thermal shutdowns. When it occurs, the screen goes black, and a hard reboot is required to restart the machine. I have been using SensorX from the appstore to watch the CPU temps and they have been spiking over 200 degrees F which is very close to the shutdown threshold.
I reset the SMC and NVRAM, no effect, then I reloaded Mojave onto a USB drive and it had the same wild thermal variations. I suspect that the current version of Mojave is hostile to some of our machines. It is very sensitive to CPU cycles in use. When I reboot, the temp spikes from 145 to 212 F for many seconds then settles down. I am sure Apple is going to have to address this sooner or later. in the meantime, USB seems to make it worse, try unplugging any USB devices you can and see if things improve.
Good luck
When I ran Etrecheck, the performance check caused the temperature to spike to 212 degrees F.
I suspect the high cpu usage caused the thermal shutdown you saw as "dies or freezes".
I recommend you get the SensorX app from the appstore so you can see what is happening to
your CPU temps realtime. It will give you a much better idea what is going on.
Have you previously checked your software is compatible with Mojave? You can do it into the developers' site and in www.roaringapps.com.
Please also run Etrecheck (etrecheck.com) and post results here.
No problem. EtreCheck is safe and is recommended here innumerable times to help with diagnosing problems.
Roaring apps.com is not secure according to the message I got from Safari. The certificate is set to expire. Is there a secure site to get the same information?
I ran the www.roaringapps.com. program and saw that all the items were either blue or white. I am not familiar with the etrecheck and don't normally download programs I don't know.
How did you install it in the first place?
I just realized that I am not on my 2011 unit but the upgraded 2015 unit. Sorry for the mis information.
I am doing the reinstall now. I’ll let you all know how it goes.
The computer is getting worse with each reboot. It’s as if Mojave has a virus or denial of service embedded in it. I do a force reboot and get to home page and the cursor locks up. Not a heat issue as far as I can tell. I installed etrecheck and it never even finished the check. I’ve been a Mac user for 20 years and have never had an issue like this.
Did you have a backup before you installed Mojave? It sounds like you may have a bad install or your drive is failing.
See if you can reinstall Mojave from Recovery Mode.
I thought maybe I had a virus or a bad app or some software problem, so I installed a fresh copy of Mojave onto an external hard drive. After the new system was running, I installed SensorX and could see I had the same thermal problems with the virgin OS that I had with my regular system.
I believe this is an issue between Mojave and the hardware.
Unfortunately I don't expect reloading will help you.
Mojave is not supported on a 2011 MacBook Pro.
So then how do I uninstall it. or what do I do.
Etrecheck May be safe but it gets to checking performance then the wheel stops and the computer dies or freezes. Any suggestions?
