Cannot Convert MP3 to AAC in iTunes, option is greyed out...

Hey,

I have dragged 3 MP3 into my music library in iTunes, I want to convert these to use as custom ringtones. I acknowledge I am supposed to be able to select a tune, then go File > Convert > Create AAC Version, but when I try this the Create AAC version is greyed out... any ideas?

I am sure I am doing something silly, but I am unsure what. Any help appreciated

I just worked it out, I had to enable syncing to my device, this moved the song onto the iPhone, then the Convert to AAC button was no longer greyed out.
