iPod nano 7th Generation Left Side of Screen and Lock Button Not Working

I've heard of many cases of an entire iPod screen not responding to taps, but on mine anything to the right of where the "previous track" icon on-screen works fine. When listening to music, for example, you can hit the next button, pause button, and so on. If I try to scrub the track position slider to the left, it stops about where the previous track button is. Going back from a menu? Nothing until my finger crosses said point. If I want to go to the previous track? I have to triple-tap the side button twice instead. Also, my lock button physically works, but it doesn't work. It's not jammed, but you can't just press it. I have to jam my fingernail into it to get it to lock, and even then it just does it when it wants to. I think it's not triggering the switch or whatever every time, because it clicks when it works, but mostly it doesn't click. What should I look for if I were to take the iPod apart and adjust it? And can I get the left side of the screen to work at all without replacing the glass? Other than that, it works perfectly fine.
