iPod touch has vertical lines and hard reset isn't working

I dropped my iPod touch accidentally on my wooden stairs. The screen did not crack, but the screen decided to show white vertical lines on a black background. This has happened to me many times and hard reset works but this time it is not working. I held the power and home button for 30 seconds and it is still stuck. Please help.

I’m sorry but I think you broke something inside the ipod.

You can make an appointment at an authorized service provider or apple store if open nearby. Keep it backed up and prepare yourself for the reality that your only ‘fix’ may be to replace it.
