Facetime and imsg error

Every time I try to log into either applications on my MacBook Air it says ' an error occurred during activation, try again'

but when my friend tries to log into to her it works

someone help

Follow the steps provided in the link If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support
