Syncing from iPhone 6 to iPhone xr

I just purchased a new IphoneXR from Xfininty and want to move everything from the my old iPhone 6 (my wife is going to use it). It is backed up to the cloud. They did a little bit at the store and told me take it home and plug it in and it would sync overnight, which is what happened when I got the 6. It didn't sync. I went back to the store and complained, They said Apple changed their policy about two years ago and only those apps with apple ids get synced. I have to download everything myself!! That does appear to be what I read on the Apple website. I basically want to move everything on my 6 to the XR (except the new phone number that has been put on the old phone). Any help would be appreciated.

Syncing everything over from your old phone to the new is definitely possible and shouldn't be too tough at all. I'm happy to help.

The simplest way would be to use Quick Start, as long as your iPhone 6 is on iOS 11 or above. You can learn about this process here: Set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Another of the most common ways is to back up your old iPhone and restore the backup to the new iPhone. You can use the links below to create the backup of your old iPhone and then restore it to the new one:
