iPhone X call failure during call

Hi all

Can someone help me out. Just recently in the last couple of months I have had on occasion my iPhone X drops a call midway and on the screen says “call failure” . It doesn’t matter if I make the call or receive a call it seems random when this occurs. When it has happened the last two times I have been at home which is not remote and we have good Wifi or 4G coverage (Brisbane). I have done some research on line and rebooted the phone, done the flying mode on/off/on/off I thought it was fixed but it has been bad the last two days. Some days the phone is fine and then other days it just drops the call midway. I’m with Telstra on a phone plan, I’ve had the phone 1 year and have had no problems. All the call drop outs aren’t blocked call numbers, I don’t have call forwarding on, I can answer all calls it’s just mid conversation that it sometimes decides to drop out. I can ring the people straight back or they can ring me again so it just drops the calls in mid sentence.

I have just updated to the latest IOS 12.11(today dated 13/11/18). I haven’t reset the factory settings yet as I’m worried I might lose stuff I have heaps of memory and data allowance. Please help me out, thanks

Thanks Allen A

I did the majority of what you requested. Also noted after I had submitted my question I noted that my iphone had wifi-calling on it which was scrolling on the top left hand side of the screen so I have turned it off and to date have had no troubles. I think Wifi-calling was upgraded on my iphone automatically when I did an IOS upgrade. Although we have good Wifi maybe the strength isn't enough for the call and it cuts out. Anyway so far so good. Thanks

Hi kylie40,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that you're intermittently seeing failed calls on your iPhone, this happens most commonly at your home, but you've verified that you have a good network connection when it occurs. I also see you've taken some troubleshooting steps on your own, thank you for providing that information. I'd suggest that you work through the steps in this article starting with the carrier settings update in the "Update your software" section. Work through each additional section consecutively then take some time to test for the behavior : If you can't make or receive calls on your iPhone

Best Regards.
