I cannot update YouTube app on my ipad 2. The latest version of IOS is 9.3.5. The message said I needed to update in order to view. I clicked update, it redirected me to the app at app store, and there's no button to update. I clicked at the open button, it opened youtube but couldn't view and update. How to fix this?

It looks like YouTube changed its minimum iOS requirements on Dec 8, 2018.

Heed my advice, in the above link, about switching to a more current, secure and up to date, third party Web browser and STOP using that out of date, over 2-1//2 year old Safari Web browser.
In addition, be advised, the YouTube app is just a shortcut to the main YouTube Website.
You CAN still access YouTube from any Web Browser.

You can't update iPad 2 operating systems. iOS 9.3.5 is the latest compatible version. If YouTube app requires iOS 10 or later, you can't update the app either. The only way to fix is to buy a newer device.
The iPad 2 is too old to upgrade beyond iOS 9.3.5. You will need to purchase a new one for that.
I was able to use Youtube until yesterday. I think I need to get a new one. Thank you.
