Keyboard arrow keys close the screen saver

Previously, when my screen saver was going with photos, I was able to go forward or backward through the photos if I wished by using the keyboard left and right arrow keys. Now, they just close the screen saver. A new bug or "feature" in the latest Mojave update?

Thanks a lot for trying it out.

Yes, this is a real bummer: since Mojave , it is no longer possible for third-party screensavers to access the photos stored in the Photos app. I have researched and tried a lot of things, to no avail.

(Note, this limitation only applies to 3rd party screensavers, not to regular apps, and, of course, not to Apple's own screensavers.)

Please request Apple to bring this feature back (for 3rd party screensavers).

In the meantime, what you can do is:

export all the photos from Photos.app to a separate, regular folder; then point ArtSaver to that folder.

I think you had better be joking. You'll be really sorry if you give up a really good quality product with Unix behind its operating system. I agree, Apple's attitude on this needs a serious adjustment. It's a little like them arranging with Amazon that the small companies that used to sell refurbished Apple equipment will be thrown off Amazon. I believe that happened on 04Jan19. However, there's a great screen saver that is even better than Apple's. It's mentioned in this discussion, thanks to Gabrielz on page 3 (http://www.informatik.uni-bremen.de/~zach/software/ArtSaver/index.html). I have installed it. It works really well AND shows you the folder name and file that it's displaying, at the bottom of the display.

Enjoy!

Yes, I am bi-lingual = I have to use with a Windoze 10 machine at work. It doesn't hold a candle to a Mac and OS-X.
