Safari will not load

When I attempt to load Safari I get the error message, "Safari will not load because of a problem. Check with developer to make sure Safari works with this version of OS X. You may have to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any updates to the application and OS X."

As others have said, many thanks to harryhayes for the quick fix. I had a little bit of trouble finding the right path to the final piece to be deleted. So I thought I'd include how I got there. I have a MacBook Pro Retina mid-2012. Open your Finder window and along the top bar you'll see "Finder File Edit View Go Window Help." Click on Go. Select Computer from the drop down menu. Select Macintosh HD. Next select System (not Library.) After clicking System you'll see Library. Click that and you'll find the Private Framework. Click that and there you'll find MobileDevice.framework. Drag it to Trash. And Safari should be back and running. So to recap the steps: Finder>Go>Computer>Macintosh HD>System>Library>Private Framework>MobileDevice.framework. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you folks who helped solve this problem which was major.

P.S. I just discovered a quick way to get to Macintosh HD. Click the keys: Command+Shift+C.

Thank you and others who are trying to help us out! Sadly this doesn’t work for me. When I go to Library (Bibliotheek in Dutch), it contains the folders Application Support, Audio, Caches, ColorPickers, ColorSync, Components, Composities (Compositions), Contextual Menu Items, CoreMedialO, Desktop Pictures, Dictionaries, DirectoryServices, Documentation, Extensions, Filesystems, Fonts, Frameworks, Graphics, Image Capture, Input Methods, Internet Plug-Ins, iTunes, Java, Keyboard Layouts, Keychains, LaunchAgents, LaunchDaemons, Logs, Managed Preferences, Messages, Modem Scripts, OpenDirectory, PDF Services, Perl, PreferencePanes, Preferences, Printers, PrivilegedHelperTools, Python, QuickLook, QuickTime, Receipts, Ruby, Sandbox, Screen Savers, ScriptingAdditions, Scripts, Security, Speech, Spelling, Spotlight, StartupItems, SystemProfiler, Updates, User Pictures, Video, WebServer, Widgets.

Where can I find the PrivateFrameworks folder? The Frameworks folder doesn’t contain a mobiledevice file.

Hello. I have the same issue (almost) running Yosemite 10.10.5. I discovered I had a Trojan Horse Virus on my computer, after downloading an anti-virus program that claimed to remove the infected files, I downloaded the software recommended on geek squad and it found no signs of malware. My safari will not open at all. The icon will bounce before I get a message saying "Safari cannot be opened because of a problem.

Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X."

I'm not the sharpest with Macs. Wondering if anyone can help me.

SOLVED. Thank you. I got help from my own post by Eric Root.

What is interesting, iTunes updated automatically which is not good. My preferences are set for me to approve updates, but this latest iTunes did not respect the pref.s. Not good Apple. So now my iTunes auto updated to 12.8.1.2 ergo this ridiculous waste of time and giving advantage to Chrome and Firefox for people who are not as savvy or have time to go this support board.

Thanks Harry.

Related question and anyone else having this issue?

So now that this Safari issue is solved, when iTunes is launched (see my other comment on this post - updated without my approval), my iPhone and iPad won't show in iTunes. I did not want iTunes updated let alone Mac OS b/c Apple is locking us out and forcing us to buy new (iMHO). Sounds like a great class action lawsuit to me.

Any hope now because I think this update has made my devices obsolete. I have tons of music on my MBP that I want to get to my devices.

MBP OS 10.10.5

iPhone 6 iOS 12.0

iPad iOS 12.0

@frischedk,

I don't have a Time Machine backup. However, I do have backups on an external HDD. Can I just add the path back into the folder? If what you say is true in your post above, then everyone on this post who removed the "....mobiledevice.framework" would be experiencing the same issue of not seeing devices in iTunes. One would think?

<</System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework>>

You are absolutely right, Animal Radio. Removal of that one little file MobileDevice.framework, is only a temporary fix for getting Safari back but affects other functions. As another suggested, I can no longer sync my iPhone with my MacBook Pro. It isn't recognized. I only have Safari as my browser. I tried downloading Firefox and Google Chrome. They look like they are downloading, but once that's complete, the download arrow won't open and Downloads in Finder doesn't show they are downloaded.

So I am in the process of updating from Yosemite to El Capitan. However, I'm not finding the El Capitan update in my applications folder, just High Sierra. I've also not used Time Machine before. Have backed up my important documents and pictures on an external hard drive but need to learn how to backup my current operating system in case I really mess things up.
