BackupName.ext is often Backups.backupdb

Follow these steps you can find out the "TIME MACHINE WHAT VERSION OF MAC OSS IS ON A PARTICULAR BACKUP"

  • Locate your Disk where backup is stored and look for a folder (BackupName.ext is often Backups.backupdb)

  • Once you locate your Backup Folder and the latest backup or the backup for which you want to find the version number. Look for System > Library > CoreServices and expand

  • Look for SystemVersion.plist  and open it with XCode or any good Text Editor. I used Open Files downloaded from App Store

  • Click on Open Files App (You may use any app you find suitable)

  • Drag the files on to the app

  • Click on Test and there you go. !

Here you Go!
