Restoring a backup from an older macOS version
Is it possible to restore a backup from an external hard disk that was made from an older version of macOS on a mac with a more recent version of macOS?

You can migrate the data, yes. I thought you were asking if you could restore the OS.
Not if the Mac came with a more recent version.
But if I do a backup of my 2010 macBook (that runs High Sierra) on an external hard disk and I buy a 2015 macBook Pro that runs Mojave can I transfer the data that was on my 2010 mac to my 2015 mac?
