FaceTime icon grayed out in messages app

The FaceTime video chat icon is grayed out in the messages app. I did not change any of my settings and the icon is like that for all of my contacts. Even the contacts that have iPhones. Someone please help.

Same here. My girlfriend’s iPhone 7 is just fine and my brother’s 8 plus is fine, but my 6 plus has the issue. Creating a need to upgrade wouldn’t surprise me

Just downloaded the latest IOS12.1.3 on 1/25/19. It did NOT resolve the grayed out facetime issue!
